Hi Guys,
I have had a search in the FAQ and can only see 1 post that relates possible to what Im asking but the post id over 2 years old so am unsure if its still relevant with this new Jungle flasher software..

Im trying to hook up my sammy ms25 xbox drive to my pc. I used to do this when it was done at the commant prompt using mtkflash on this pc but had to turn off the mother boards sata controler to do it and it worked with my VIA6421 card with no problem.

I had to turn sata off on my Mother board when i Used to do this to get it to work but if i now do that I cant boot to windows as my hard drive is sata so cant run Jungle flasher in Dos Mode.

When Im running the Jungle flasher its picking up the VIA card and when i select the i/o port all I see is drive not detected.

The only post in here i see for this is an old mtkflash drive not detected post in the help and it makes no mention of Jungle flasher...

Im a little stuck with this and would appreciate some support in getting the drive to be detected...

Thanks again
:-)

Ok so im not completely sure i understand but im going to try and help anyways.
Turn off your computer and everything, then when you go to boot turn on the samsung drive first and then boot and it should be detected.

Hi,
Yes I went through each i/o Option and tried every port, the top few seem to be my IDE drives and the 3 at the bottom are my VIA card and im choosing the master as thats the port the sammy is plugged into on the card.

Im using an executor kit adaptor to power my drive and have it powered on with the red ring of lights showing and not the blue modeb

I can eject the drive using the conectivity kit so im asuming its powering the drive ok. The sata cable from the back of the drive goes right into my VIA6421 card.

When I try and run the Jungle flasher with the xbox drive not connected I get an error as I run Jungle flasher.. when I have it all connected and powered Jungle flasher starts and I look through the i/o ports and see my VIA cards master port and choose it.. when i do I see the card details in the port properties section and below is wher I see drive Not Detected in the drive properties.

Im runing WinXP pro on an asrock mobo that has an Nvida chipset.

When I did this the old dos way it was fine as I turned off the mobos sata and it worked.. Now with this new JungleFlasher I cant turn off the mobos sata cause my hard drive needs it to boot windows..

So Im a little stuck..

Thanks again

If it's an original MS25 with no hacked FW on it, you need to hit the Sammy Unlock button before it'll show your drive in JungleFlasher.

not according to the JF guide.

"Please note, unmodified Samsung MS25?s have no FirmGuard therefore do not need an unlock method to be applied, simply click Intro / DeviceID and check flash chip properties for status 0x70."

so it should appear down in the drive properties box, and then just proceed with the intro, and off to reading, and writing process.

Hi,

Not sure how to post a photo in here...
But here is a screen shot of what I see in JF http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/ff349/MyBucketUK/JF1.jpg

I have the xbox drive connected to the master port on the VIA card.

Im asuming its the master port as its the port i used the last time and the only one that would work in dos mtkflash I can not see any markings on the card but will look again but The card has 3 ports to plug sata devices into the exterior port at the back of the pc, One on the side internally and one on the opposite end to the exterior and this is the post im using.

Thanks again..

more than likely the #1 sata port is the one closest to the 'front' of your PC. but if you take the card out, it should say ch1 ch2 ch3 etc. around each of the sata ports. but if you do take the card out, make sure the computer is turned off first.

Damn, every one of my MS25's had to be unlocked for Windows and JF to see them. I guess it's different with everyone. I'd just flash the damn thing is dos man with MKTFLASH. You can do that with that IPREP program.

If it is locked as you say PS2menace how did you unlock it, I have tried just in case it still had the old extreme firmware still installed, Im sure it was put back to origin.bin as the console had to go back to MS.

I ran an activate .iso disc as instructed for the FW i would have used at the time and still nothing....

Anyway I will try and find something on Iprep as you mentioned, If I can do it the old dos way I may be ok, If i recal I had to do a litle trick then and put the drive on and off as i did it with mykflash but will now need to find some more info on how Iprep works?

Will I still use the new Iextreme 1.5 FW I downloaded with Jungle Flasher?

Thanks again

Here's an old tutorial I wrote that explains how to do it in dos with a MS28 that should at least shed some light on it for ya.

Use the ixtreme 1.51 for Samsung drives. Just ignore the warnings.

Hi Pc2menace,
I have taken your advice and was tring to follow your old tutorial using extermem boot maker & firmware tool box.

To make sure My drive was ok as i couldnt connect using JungleFlasher I quickly flashed the drive with my saved orig.bin to make sure that it did have the origional FW and that it was connecting to the pc this way..

It flashed OK and 4 banks gave me an OK after and told me to reeboot..

I tried to use the Jungle flasher again and it was still the same..

So back to your old tutorial and FW files when I downloaded the iXtreme FW I fot this http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/ff349...emeFWFilles.jpg

so when it comes to step 10 in your tutorial

10. Once that is verified, your xtreme 5.2 folder should look like this. << You have a pic here

I cant seem to do this as you used extreme 5.2 FW in the tut and its files are different from what I have now downloaded..I dont have the x360sam .exe and other files you have...

Would i just need to download an alternative iextreme FW bundle to the one I got for the Jungle Flasher that you se in the pic in the link?

Can you advise?

Thanks again

I also use the connectivity kit and it works perfect! you should have no trouble, if your via card isnt detected just take it out and put it back in and reboot....might take a couple tries

Well..
Here is what I have done..
Please can someone confirm if this will be Ok or if I will have to make some more FW..

I tried to follow pc2menace's tutorial as best I could as the FW files used in it were way older that the latest ix151

I had this older iXtreme10 FW on my drive the contents look like this http://i538.photobucket.com/albums/ff349/MyBucketUK/iXtreme10.jpg

It has the Make iXtreme firmware.exe and makesam tools I needed but had older FW..

So I tool the new ix151.bin firmware and placed it into theiXtreme10 FW folder and renamed it to xtrem10a.bin so that the Make iXtreme firmware.exe didnt trip up with name changes...

Anyway I ran Make iXtreme firmware.exe and it gave me the option to put my key into the FW and i did thia and all went well...

I went back to dos and did mtkflash and it flashed the drive all 4 banks gave me the OK

So Im guessing its went ok as far as the flash

But wouild how i made the hacked FW be ok seeing I used the old Make iXtreme firmware.exe and make sam tools and replaced the old firmware with the newer.

Im hoping if it was no good it would have errored out?

I have not put the drive back into the xbox as yet I will leave that till tommorrow and see if anyone thinks I could do it better or if what ive done is no good.

Thank you once again for the commenst so far
regards :-)

What you need to do is open your original fw in jungle flasher, then load the samsung ixtreme 1.51 FW for Samsungs in the source. Then click spoof target to source. Then click save. It'll save as sam_cfw.bin.
Save the sam_cfw.bin file to your bootdisk and boot, when in dos type

mtkflash w /m /sata sam_cfw.bin

Thanks PS2Menace,

I did that and got the file as you said, added it to my Dos boot USB pen and used the mtkflash in dos and got 4 updated banks all OK

I will fit it to the consol tommorrow and fingers crossed..

Thanks very much for all the comments.

Its a shame that Jungle Flasher wont pick up my 360 drive!!!

But as long as i can do it using mtkflash in dos I will be Ok huh?

Regards as ever

Yeah no problem. Just check to make sure that FW you flashed has your correct key in it. If you clicked spoof target to source, then you should be fine.

Atually its the other wat round on my app it says Spoof Source To Target not target to source , Im guessing thats the button you ment?

Once I did that and could see the dvd keys matched I clicked the Save To File button and got my new hacked FW that way...

Sorry for the button confusion..
