Hey, I'm new here so sorry if i posted this on the wrong forum.

Okay well i bought Memorex dvd+r dl disc to practice making backup games to play on my xbox 360. I know i need to get Verbatims dvd+r dl, but i wanted to practice first because those verbatims are expensive. But i open up imgburn and set the layer break then i chose my .DVD file to burn, then i click the write button. Then it starts but like 30 secs into it i get a error saying:" Set LO data zone capacity failed reason unknown (0x91,0xC1)" but other times i get another error saying:"optimum power calibration failed " But here is the log for the first error.

I 06:42:24 Operation Started!

You shouldn't need to set the layer break to burn the game. These days, the .dvd has the layer break in it, so it will do all of that for you. Also see if other programs are accessing the drive. I've run into problems with imgburn cause it says WMP is using it, even though I never use WMP. So before you click burn, go into task manager, and end the task for "wmplayer.exe", then try it again.

Well i checked to see if wmp was in the task manager but its not. I have this thing called anydvd witch imgburn tells me if i dont disable it, it will interfere or something so i disable it. But it still gives me the same error, so i have no clue if its the disks or the drive. I also updated the firmware on the drive and i know my drive burns DL's cause on the front of it it says DVD+R DL.

When you say you disable it, do you shut off the program completely? Make sure no processes for anydvd are still running in task manager. I've had anydvd before, and sometimes they still got things running when you disable it.

Okay i will try and explain this the best i can so bare with me and my grammar sucks laughing out loud.

I went to task manager and end process for anydvd and then i opened up imgburn, and then stuck a DVD in the drive and on the right side of imgburn where it shows you the information there was nothing. But then i left imgburn open and then opened anydvd back up and then the information showed up on imgburn, then i went back to task manager and end process for anydvd again and the information was still there. so i tried to burn it again and to my luck after 30 secs the same error pops up, I've done tried it on each speed and same thing error after error and I've tried on all 10 discs and error after error. I'm i missing something? or do i need to get another drive, or try different programs, or get the Verbatims, I got the Memorex to practice with, cause i don't wont to practice with expensive verbatims.

Don't turn anydvd back on! Shut it off, and leave it off, then try it!

It still does the same thing, error after error. Maybe i should get those other disc and see if that solves the problem, if not then it may be my drive.

you can try to get some Verbatim DLs. however you're right, it may be your drive. i googled "Set L0 Data Zone Capacity Failed! - Reason: Unknown (0x91, 0xC1)" and found a couple of other users on various sites who also have the same error and have an AOPEN drive. i would try with Verbatims, and if that doesn't work, invest in a Pioneer or NEC/Sony DL burner. they are pretty cheap.

Or try burning at higher speed, it may be that your burner doesn't support burning that slow.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

No I've tried at 1x. 2x, 2.4x, 3x, 4x, 8x same thing. And what good is it even burning at a higher speed and you need to burn at 2.4x or lower to get the best burn.

Well because for a while some Verbatims were made in India, and they didn't really turn out to be the quality they use to be. If they are from Singapore then you are good.

Well if you haven't gotten them (or if you did), On the plastic wrapper around the DVD's, it will say where they were made!

Oh and another thing here is the drive that i have from this website. So if you could look at it, and see if that is the right burner.

Hopefully the Verbatims will work perfect in my burner

Ya, that would work fine. It says it will record on DVD+R DL, which is what the Verbatims are, and what I burn. So hopefully with the Verbatims it will work for you.

I think it is the burner/media combination. I had a burner that worked fine with brands other than memorex. it gave this error when ever using memorex but not others.

some people even burn at 4x. I do and dont have any problems. I have been using TDK lately. they work very well and are much cheaper than verbatim. You could give them a try just ask the cashier if they dont work with your burner if you can return. I had done this before and they let me. It was office depot.

Well I'm sticking with Verbatims, the 3 pack i ordered each disc burnt perfect with no problems. All three games RE5, Prince of persia, GH metallica, all work perfect.

I burn at 8x and didn't have a coster because of speed reasons.
2.4x isn't always the speed that gives best results because at that low speed the whole process sometimes produces more errors (or atleast that's what I read in another topic). But why do you want to change something at your speed settings now that they work perfectly for you? Never touch a running system and stick with what works.
