I'm working on a 360 which has 3 light error (0103 code). I did the X-clamp, overheating via the system, and the heatgun. Still no luck. So I got a magnifying glass and took a close look at the GPU. I examined each of those rectangle things scattered around the chip, and noticed that one those rectangle thing has a broken end. What are those things called and what purpose those it serve? Because I think I can re-solder that end.
I just re-soldered that end. I turns on with no red lights, but no video. After 90 seconds I get the 3 lights, and the 2 lights because I don't have the fans connected. I'm definitely on the right track. I just wished I had more knowledge about this GPU.
I give up. I gave the 360 back to the owner and he threw it in the trash. I wanted to get it out of the trash, but for what, I tried to find a replacement mobo on ebay. But all of them had RROD just like this one and is probably un-fixable.
This is unacceptable. I know Microsoft extended the warranty and have a new mobo which uses less power, but that's not good enough. Besides on the 360's that was returned, Microsoft only installed new heatsinks and replaced the dvd drive with a LG. Microsoft need to reimburse everyone that has an Xbox prior to the new jasper motherboard. And I mean everyone, even if they don't have RROD. This is crazy! If you bought a vehicle that had a defect, there would be a recall on ALL vehicles of that type regardless if it's malfuntioning or not.
I'm going to file a complaint. This is unacceptable.
I admit, they did. I didn't know it was so many people with this problem. That's crazy man! Extended warranty ain't enough. They need to REPLACE these 360's not fix them. I've talked to 5 guys that sent their 360's back and all Microsoft did was replaced the heatsinks and dvd drive. As of now they are probably replacing the motherboard. But that's not good enough. They need to reimburse everyone prior to the jasper mobo. There's no way around it. If you think about it, we've been scammed.
