Hey fellaz,

I bought a 360 2 months ago and yesterday i finally flashed my lite-on dvd! Being new to this whole modified world, i was wondering if people still play backups online after the big NXE ban wave!

This guy sells backups and keeps going on about how safe his discs are, and stealth patched and what not. I just want to know i'm not the only one putting my x360 at risc here. Espescially with the new xbox 360 i got.

I mean is it possible if i play my cards right that microsoft will never know about me playing backups online? I'd like to hear from the people how much you play backups online and if you ever felt like someone from microsoft was *watching* you!

Maybe it's cause i'm new to the game that i'm still kind of scared, i think i'll get over it and be playin alot of backups online after a while.

Well hope to hear some responses from ya'll

Grtz

Well, I tried googling. And it led me to this site. There's just so many topics about MOD, BACKUPS, ONLINE, XBOX, LIVE you know i never get the specific answer to my question about this topic. It led me to this site but also off topic, so i thought i'd make a new one and see what people have to say.. So i know there wil be riscs right... but i'm not the only one crazy enough to put my x at risk right? it's kind of a normal thing to do for people with modded boxes? I just wanna know i'm not steppin out in the open

Many people with modded Xboxs play online however as stated many times before there is always a risk. Personally i play online with my backups but i always save up money to buy a new Xbox once my modded one gets banned. I haven't heard of any people getting banned with the new ixtreme 1.51 but like i said always a possibility. If you do decide to play online always make sure you disconnect your ethernet cord once your done playing online and never play a backup game before release. That's all the advice i can give you and ask yourself is it worth the risk? I've been playing online for a month it boy is it fun.

hmmm..
ok both hitman and leerage been usefull to me.
only i expected some more up 2 date stuff seeming the link leads to April 2008 before the big bann wave of many friends of mine.
and before the 1.51 firmware the guy flashed my drive with.

but that's ok... i think i know enough to make my decision. I'll just go for the online backup gaming as far as the horse can take me to wait and see where this road will end.

1 more question.. is there anybody out there who has been banned after the 1.51 update?

Right, it was originally posted on April '08. And it's been stickied for a reason.

Unfortunately the thread doesn't stay current because people are lazy and instead of reading the forum rules and stickys first, like they are suppose to, they just flood the forum with the same questions over and over and over...

Now, that being said, welcome to the forum.

As it currently stands there is always a risk of being banned because there is no (practical) way possible to make a 100% perfect backup. Period.

So it's always a game of cat-and-mouse. The team behind the firmware are always striding to stay one step ahead of MS. And there is no one other than the security team at MS who can tell you if you'll be safe each time you log on to LIVE.

There are plenty of people who are constantly posting "it's safe, trust me, I always play online with backups". What kind of guarantee is that? Just because they were able to play on LIVE yesterday, does that mean when they log on today they won't be banned? I don't think so.

Keep in mind, when MS launches it's next ban wave, there isn't going to be any press release, forum posting, blogging, email notification, etc. from MS stating:

"Dear Pirate,

Starting on xx/xx/xxxx we are going to implement our next wave of banning modified consoles. If you do not wish to be banned, please take our advice and disconnect your console from LIVE.

The ban wave will last until xx/xx/xxxx. After that, we will promptly send you notification that you can log back on to LIVE without worry.

We here at MS do apologize for this incovenience and will be sending you a free 1 month LIVE gold card."

Every single time you log on could be your last. Most play on line knowing that and accept it and the rest live in denial thinking they'll be safe forever. And you can always tell who those people are because once they do get banned they're the first one's to jump in the forums and post "f'in MS", "it's not fair", "I'll teach them and cancel my LIVE account", so on and so forth.

You just have to decide if it's worth the risk or not. If you are worried you could always just pick up a used console and leave it stock. Then you'll have one for LIVE and one for backups.

Another thing to keep in mind. You will void your warranty if you flash. So if you are not comfortable with fixing the 360 yourself if you get RRoD and other errors, it may not be a good idea to void your warranty. In the end, it depends on the user. If you are OK with buying a replacement Arcade if you need to, then flashing and playing backups online is for you. If a gamer is going to complain when they get banned, RRoDed, etc. and not fully accept that they took a risk, then they shouldn't be flashing. Piracy on the 360 is more risky and not as user-friendly as on a PS2 or PC for eg. and that has to be accepted by the pirate.

Oh I just noticed you already flashed it. Alright so the whole warning about the warranty thing doesn't apply to you then. But with Live, the message is still the same. Be prepared for the possibility of having to buy a replacement because in the future who knows, M$ might start banning people with 1.51 eventually.

bhetrick, very funny! but, I think most of you are missing the point that sickalish is asking here...he wants to know how you personally feel about the subject, not if it is known or not known and how this has been answered 1 million times and blah blah blah.

so, bhetrick, i feel you. i always disconnect my ethernet port if i don't need to be on live. if i'm going to play my cousin across the country, i'll hook it up and play for a couple hours, but then take it back offline and *hope* it's all good.

everyone bitches about the risk...what risk? i mean, people are literally stealing right under microsofts nose, and then microsoft catches them...and what does the big software giant do? do they press charges, fine you thousands of dollars, send your ass to jail where you "legally" belong? ...er...no, they disconnect you from xbox live. COME ON! the risk is nothing, just enjoy it while you got it bro.

I'm just not quite sure exactly how keeping your ethernet cable unplugged is going to help you. While you are playing online MS is sending and receiveing the challenge responses and say you happen to throw a couple of red flags. They log that data under you 360s serial number. When they do decide to ban you, they log your serial as banned and everything done on their end. Basically what you are doing is plugging in your ethernet cable, to find out you can connect to Live service.

yea im with you leerage, unplugging your ethernet cable is doing absolutely nothing for you. as soon as you plug it back in and sign onto live, it sends all the information to them anyways, so you might as well leave it in.

Come talk with us on efnet at #elitemods !!! or just click ME

ALSO, DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES ON LIVE REGARDING MODDING CONSOLES, OR HOW I PLAYED A CERTAIN GAME EARLY. I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL INSTEAD DELETE YOUR MESSAGE, AND BLOCK ALL COMMUNICATION FROM YOU. JUST SEND ME A PM ON HERE.

I am thinking about getting my xbox 360 flashed but i have a few questions. Firstly, if i do get banned do my associated gamer profiles get banned aswell.

Secondly, i've read a few guides and it seems at this time if you correctly stealth burn your xbox games that it does not matter what ixtreme firware you use.
