Just bought a wii and im all new to this just checked the firmware. Its on 2.1e is possible to do the Twilight hack or do i need to jump to the 3e firmware.

You can't jump to 3.x, it's 4.0 now. Just do the hack first and follow the guide to go to 4.0

This is going to sound STUPID but when doing the hack guide do i need to do the oct 23rd 3.3/3.4 fix guide as im on 2.1e!!!!!

once you get the Homebrew channel you can upgrade you firmware to 3.2e using cios downgrader(yes sounds weird using a downgrader for an update)
don't need to goto 4.0 and i would not suggest to.

4.0 does not have the pesky IOS16. I would suggest finding a game that has a 3.2 or 3.3 update on it and installing it. Using Twilight Hack and install the Homebrew Channel. Use Waninkoko 4.0 Safe Updater and update to 4.0, using this will leave your Homebrew Channel and will still allow you to mod you IOS while on 4.0. Then you can install all the cIOS/HomeBrew you want on 4.0, and not have to worry about IOS16. (For the people that don't know, ISO16 stopped you from installing WAD files.)

WOW my head is in a spin...Which is the prefered method for me to use? The logical way would use Larryje's guide from start to finish and ignore the 3.3/3.4 fix (as im on 2.1e), and i should be sorted and ready to play backed up wii/gamecube games?

With the 4.0 method, you don't have to worry about IOS16 and the October 23rd Update doesn't get in the way on 3.2 Honestly, it is better to go to 4.0 because it can do everything that 3.2/3.3/3.4 can do and since it is the newest Firmware you don't have to worry as much about updates.

Nice One cheers, is method 2 the one to do on the 4.0 update guide via Wii Mod Central website. Hopefully Zelda game should arive soon fom ebay and i can crack on with this hack.

Dudes.....Please help....Zelda arrived today and everything went to plan putting the programs on the sd card, copying the twilight hack to the Wii system....BUT when i go through the accept prompts it came up with this error.

Checking System...
Im running IOS21 2.2
Error checking the system menu version.

Then exits back to wii menu.
Do i need to update my firmware to 2.2e or even to the 3.x firmware to get twilight to install? If so what game would allow me to do so?

you have to be on 3.x to install homebrew, i have heard that mario cart wii and supr smash bros update your wii, but i have not confimed this, rent one and find out
