I am asking and starting a new thread because I have rad numerous threads her and on other boards that have me confused.. Please note I am not very technically inclined with the Wii yet so I may make some mess ups on terminology.

Upgrading to 4.0, I plan to do it eventually (now on 3.4) I do not have Wii Home brew channel yet, I read on the wiki something that 4.0 knocks out the Homebrew channel or renders it useless, but then i see other threads on here about a way around that, is this true, or I also heard if 4.0 detects home brew channel it will brick the Wii.

Is there anything homebrew wise to watc ha movie off an SD card, I have no plans to use the Wii as a DVD as the wii sits on top of my dvd player and takes just as much work to put the DVD in that drive, but it would be cool to fit a few movies on the SD card (Note I know about WiiVideo 9 but I hear it is limited to 30 minute movies)

I have read that Twilight Princess games out now have fixed the hack or something.. if I rented it from game fly would this hack work still do you think?

Is the Homebrew channel necessary in order ot run Linux on the Wii?

Anything with the Homebrew channel and ability to use a Keyboard on the web surfing?

You can play movies from and SD Card. Put an .avi file into the SD Card then go to the Photo Channel and play the movie.

I would also like to know if the newer Twilight Princess games are fixed.. PLEASE HELP?

Oh yeah and, DO NOT UPDATE TO 4.0!!!!!!!!!!!

Nintendo fixed the NTSC version of Zelda: The Twilight Princess so i would presume that in the US if you rented it then it would be the newer version so you wont be able to use the twilight hack. You could try buying a second hand version of this game from ebay or somewhere similar.

If you dont have homebrew already installed dont upgrade to firmware 4.0 before installing the HomeBrew channel as you wont be able to use the twilight hack thats needed to install the HomeBrew channel.

Also Nintendo dont detect the HomeBrew channel etc and then brick your wii with version 4.0 firmware.

From what i can remember there was a USB keyboard and mouse that was supposed to be compatible with the Nintendo wii that was made by Logitech so maybe doing a little research on that might give you some more insight into this.

Hope this helps :)

To watch movies out of SD card try GeeXbox try the alpha5 not alpha6,(google) or go to Wiibrew.

It you want streaming from your PC server try this: tversity, orb, or X-oom (retail). X-oom much stable ,like a PS3 look but not that closed.
