nope it doesnt, they just came out with it for no reason at all, and everyone just went along with this long running joke that you have to update to 1.51 in order to play the newer games to see how many people would.

nah man, you have to use the banana split method of updating the firmware for the new 3rd wave games to work.

Not only that, but you must do this while drunk. Somehow the 360 knows if you're sober and won't let you flash the drive without at least being over the legal limit.

Don't listen to these guys... they don't know what they are talking about. I've found the taco method to be more efficient than banana split method. After you have opened your XBOX 360, go ahead and drive down to your local Taco Bell and pick up the following:
1. Crunchy Taco
2. Taco Supreme
3. Soft Taco
4. Ranchero Chicken Soft Taco
5. Soft Taco Supreme
6. Grilled Steak Taco
7. Double Decker Taco
First you want to take the Crunchy Taco and put it between your XBOX 360 and computer to keep the XBOX 360 grounded. Second, replace the XBOX 360 fan with the Taco Supreme as it has better cooling than the stock 360 fan. Third, remove your CPU heatsink and place the soft taco on the CPU chip. Go ahead and apply Artic Silver 5 thermal paste to the taco. Place your CPU clamp back on top of the taco and tighten down your heatsink with the x-clamp replacement screws. Fourth, the Ranchero Chicken Soft Taco can be a little tricky to wedge between the CPU heatsink and dvd drive but once done, it will keep your XBOX 360 running a bit cooler than normal. Fifth, the Soft Taco Supreme will contain the information to flash your drive. You will want to go ahead and remove the shell of the DVD drive. Go ahead and eject the drive and shove the Soft Taco Supreme in and place it on the PCB board. Close the drive tray now. Sixth, the Grilled Steak Taco will use the embedded firmware in the Soft Taco Supreme. To flash simply place the Grilled Steak Taco into the drive tray and then shine a LED flash light at it six times. Congratulations! You have successfully flashed your XBOX 360. You may now go ahead and consume the Double Decker Taco as it is only needed for Bad Flash Recovery. Enjoy!

Yes both the Banana Split and the Taco method are both jokes. Basically the whole reason 1.51 was released is to support the 3rd Wave games, hence the suggest to google this was justified.

They were indeed jokes. This site isn't full of jerks. What it is full of is, is a lot of information that can be obtained by using the search function. But what happens is people get lazy and just start threads that have already been answered. Seriously if the original poster would of typed "ixtreme 1.51" into google, the 4th link would of taken him straight to the iXtreme 1.51 thread at AfterDawn. And he would of had all the information he would of ever needed to know about ixtreme 1.51 and Wave 3 support.
You say no sarcasm but yet call us jerks... what is up with that?
Edit: chris4160, oosel was so nice to provide you with the a link to the banana split method yet you still ask about it.

Have you guys heard of the "Drunk Stripper" method? It involves the "banana" from the Banana Split method and the "Taco" from the Taco Bell method. Basically you prep the Taco and and insert the Banana..... well you get the idea.

You got to be careful, though. If you're not using the latest xtreme protection then you'll end up with a bunch of bugs in the Taco.

There are no jerks here, period. The reason members come across as being jerks is because of lazy people like yourself. People get tired of seeing the same questions posted over and over and over. And you even went out of your way to prove just how lazy you are. A link to the "banana split method" was posted and you were so lazy that you couldn't even be bothered to click on it and see whether it's a joke or not.
