i think if you have or can borrow another hdd, you can use xplorer360 to remove the partition from the other hdd and put it onto yours. i forget which partition it is (theres 3) but you can google it.

you would need a notebook hdd to molex connector. as far as keeping the hdd intact, you will need to disasemble the case to power it up and im fairly sure you just copy the particular partition to your pc then onto the new hdd.

The drive you bought is most likely a Western Digital notebook drive that was modified using a program called HDD Hackr. Most of the hard drives from Hong Kong on E Bay are.
If you google HDD Hackr you'll find lots of guides on how to set your new drive up so that you can have the the xbox emulator on it. From what I've been reading it can be a bit tricky.
Also I've seen alot of people brick their original hard drive while trying to use xplorer360. So make sure you do alot of reading before you proceed.
Good luck.

Here is the guide I used when I modded my hard drive. Somewhere in this forum they explain how to set up the partition that the emulator is supposed to be on.
It also has some horror stories about bricked hard drives. Anyway, this should help you out a little bit.

Note to MODS...I'm not sure if direct links are allowed here. If they aren't, feel free to delete this post:)
