Now for the longer version:

I have a flashed benq 360 that recently received the 3/4 red ring, and the E74 error. Not having the cash yet to grab a new one, I looked into a temporary fix, and found the penny fix. I figure it's already busted and no longer under warranty, so what the heck. Now when I turn the 360 on however, I no longer get any video. The lights still turn on, specifically the regions D1, D2, and D3, but the drive won't open, and the fans and such do not turn on. Is the 360 shot at this point or might there be more I could do? Thanks a lot for any assistance.

do you try the xclamp mod. it is much more likely to fix it than the penny fix. also try more/less pennies if you dont want to do the xclamp replacement.

The number of pennies could be the reason it isn't working at all at this point?

yes basically you have just changed the problem. the flex on the board could be too great now or still too little to completely fix the problem. how many pennies did you use on each ram chip?

I used 2 before. I'm altering it now, but I'm just confused as to why my switching from the pads to pennies would take away any and all video, as well as stop the fans from running.

are you getting any red lights? if so please get your secondary code. while red lights are flashing hold the sync button and tap the eject button 4 times and look to see how many lights flash each time you tap the eject button this will give you a code

4 lights=0
1=1
2=2
3=3

Based on the formula I'm getting code 0031.

may be a short where you sure to not let the pennies touch the board/where they wrapped in tape? could also just be the number of pennies. First take them out and see if your original error returns if it does just try 3 pennies. if that doesnt work you will either need to do the xclamp or cut your loses and sell it as is on ebay.

I did as you suggested and tried 3 pennies with no luck, but then took them out and put the pads back in, and now I'm getting the E73 error. Also, I'm getting code 1021.

I really appreciate the help by the way.
