The Box - Keeps Updating Itself

Hi Lads,
I have a Starview "The Box",
It was working ok up to last week.
At the moment it has only the following working channels.
Rte 1,INFO TV,Extreme Sports, Buzz Tv, Kerrang, QVC, EWTN, Setana Ireland , Channel South,
Euronews.
When I put on a differant channel eg Sly Spor###,the Box Updates itself, Goes upto aprox 200% and starts all over again.???
Im on Ch~~~s Cork cable.
The Box has the following flash on it.
API Version 4.57e_E
Boot Version 7.0
22 Dec 08
emu Turned on.
I have done a factory reset a few times and rescan. I have flashed the box a few times and turned the emu back on. I have full epg and a approx 140 chaannels in total.
I have 2 boxes in the house. The other is a Box super and it works ok with ALL the channels available.
I thought I have the latest flash on it? OR have I being `"Nagra3èd"

there is a newer firmware than that, its the same version number but with a different date
get it here
and use the 4.03loader from here
PLEASE DONT PM ME FOR KEYS!

Thats what he is using at the moment Cathal :)
He needs to turn the box off from the power for a minute or two. Factory reset, rescan and turn key emu back on. Scan from the direct feed for the initial scan.

Hi Scouser,
I will try that, so there is no need to do a reflash.
I will try it tomorrow.BTW Im picking up all the channels, Just not "Unlocking" them.

Hi lads,
I reflashed the box with the above image, Incase it was a problem with the image I had. I unplugged the box to flash it. Plugged it back in. Done a reset, rescan,emu on.
Got 123 channels. But same problem. Kept updating.
Then I followed Scousers ideas and hey presto Im up and running.
It updated and all the channels unlocked.
Kind of puzzles me on what exactly the problem was.
But now Im up and running.

I have the same problem. had nearly given up on the box but your experience gave me hope. How do I do a factory reset? do I need a specific code?

factory reset is 0000.then do a fresh installation , enter provider then automatic scan,dont forget to turn emu on ,press menu then1570 go to turn emu on then exit 3 times ,that shud do it

Click Menu, and scroll down to Factory setting and press ok. Then ok again. The box then will be rest. Everthing would be lost.You will have to scan again , turn emu on and follow Scousers steps above.

Thank you reaper180. I did what you said but no joy I'm sorry to say. The majority of channels (rte2 bbc etc) blocked with dollar signs.

Emu is on. It says updating till 200% and then starts again. thanks for your help

Hi,
What are the steps that scouser pointed out?..am i missing something?
I put the latest firmware (as suggested here) on my Box, and then turned off for a while...turned on, reset, rescaned, turned EMU on, and when i go to the channels it just keeps updating.
Am i missing something :(

I Shout boxed you then noticed the comment that you dont read your shouts often so I am hoping that I am in the correct forum for you to help me.
I have learned many things from these forums and have flashed a few Starviews before.
Im at the end of my tether! I have a starview 2 box which has the right amount of slots on the top and the back/insides look correct for a genuine box.
I have firmware v4.55e and boot version 7.00 but for some strange reason I cannot get it to pick up any channels, it found them the first time I searched but since i did a factory reset ..... NOTHING!
I have the EMU turned on, is there anything else at all I can do or is it the knackers yard for this box?
Every time I scan I just get "Failed" on every scan?
I had a starview 2 before which I gave to my father(upgraded to a starview 4 box super USB) and the flash etc worked fine with the same software/lead used on this one I just cant understand it?
I also have my network set to Telepest which is correct and have the latest keys installed????
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I know there is no problem with my connection as I have a Box 4 super usb running from the cable and that works fine

remove any splitters before you scan then replace after scan is done

Yeah, I double checked that one. lol ;O)
I just cant get my head around it! Have run a cable straight from the box with no splitters or breaks and still the same, I just cant understand how I got those channels to download earlier manually?
I give up for tonight guys, I really appreciate your helping me and will wake up fresh tomorrow to try and conquer the impossible!
