Im trying to flash the Benq drive on my 360 without using a VIA6421 sata card. Reason being Ive been told and also read that it works with a none VIA-

First I used the Mod disc V.1.53 to try to eliminate as much user error as possible. All I got was the MTK failed error. I used every sata port listed in my device manager.

Next I tried to use Jungle Flasher V1.55. All I got there was device failed to load.

My current sata chipset is the Intel ICH10 according to Jungle Flasher, and in device manager it list it as Marvell 61xx.

To those of you who are veterans to the firmware flashing, are there any other possible options or is it to ebay I go for a VIA6421 chipset card?

Thanks in advance.

There are other sata chips that work, but sorrily intel isn't one of them. You don't have to go to ebay to buy the sata card, they are pretty cheap at amazon, too.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

dude, don't be a cheap ass. They are $15 and guaranteed to work, so stop wasting your time, it won't work unless you have a NFORCE chipset and even then it might not. Get something that everyone on here uses and guarantees. $15.... hmm how many games will you have backed up for that? It more than pays for itself.

maybe a little harsh but true.

Where r u located. Ill see if i can find you a real cheap one. But really just get one it's worth it and it's not much more than the cost of the bottle of aspirin your going to need if you keep trying without it.

And dont use ebay for it they are very cheap on reputable websites.

LOL. I know, I just get tired of people going through a huge thing because they don't want to buy a cheap card and they wonder why it doesn't work.

True I actually over paid for mine. I paid $30 but it was at a shop here so I had it right away. and I paid the $30 in a heart beat cause hell thats only half the cost of a game. since then i have paid $55 for a xtractor and spear to do light ons. So with 85 dollars invested I have 64 games and have done several flashes and made way more than that back.

So to me its somewhat annoying to hear someone whine about $15-$20. BUt lets be nice and just inform them of the advantage of such a small investment.

This is so true. Only thing for me is I had no problem making money modding wii's for buddies and making some extra $$ but the 360 everyone is worried about getting banned. How do you promote your sales?

explain to them that if the games are scure then they will be fine. cause odds are they will be. and even if you get banned then you can sell the 360 for at least 100 bucks(prob a bit more) to someone that doesnt play online. and with all the money saved on games it shouldnt be a problem to buy a new arcade unit and use old harddrive. if they say 100 bucks is a lot of money tell them they will spend more than that buying 2 games retail per month. so on the longrun it is worth it even if you get banned once per year. the temporary hassle of getting a new box is worth it in my book.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

Thanks for all the info. Im definitely going to buy the card.

I never said in my post I did not want to buy it or that Im too cheap. Matter of fact Ive driven all over town looking for a sata card to buy in person, but none are the required chipset. I figured since there was a chance it could work as is I went for it. That way I could post the information and perhaps someone else could benefit from knowing something else besides a VIA would work.

I dont think I came off as "whining" in asking my question. Several people insisted that it would work with my current setup as is and now I can tell them that they are wrong. Thanks guys.

I am sorry I was not referring to you when I said whining. I was only commenting on previous posters. I thought your original post was a decent question and actually contained much more info than normal and actually showed you had done some research which is always nice to see and makes people want to help that much more.

again if you would let me know where in the world you are I would try to suggest a good place to get a card from.

Again sorry if you thought my comments were directed at you that's why i actually started a private chat with gameover so as not to hijack the thread. Wish you the best of luck in your flashing adventure it well worth the effort.

Probably my fault. Sorry and my apologies. I just get sick of so many people that stumble on these issues and don't have the right parts.

I totally agree with all that was said "concerning via chipset" I have an onboard sata, but I managed to flash my liteon, but it took me FOREVER" to get it to work, I was able to get all bin files, but after I erased it, nothing would respond after that. I ended up using iprep, but since that encounter. I purchased a Via chipset from Egghead.com, but now it's listed either as amazon.com or onsale.com. I only paid about $12 for mine.

Your at the right place for help, The guys on the site are Amazing.

I totally agree. Ive been lurking for awhile and have been trying to gather as much info as possible before I attempted this. The people on this forum and the way its structured is by far the best Ive come across.

Belenos- Im actually located in south Texas. Ive been to 3 Bestbuys, 2 Fry's electronics, and 1 Microcenter. I thought ebay would be a good place to get a decent sata card but seeing some of the objects so far... Im totally open for some suggestions. Im guessing some brands work more consistently than others?
