Additionally, due to the small form factor of the hard drive Deynet was able to keep the Nintendo Wii's DVD-ROM drive intact. We'll have more details about this hack soon along with detailed diagrams on how to do it yourself.

I will go ahead and throw my opinion in. I think this is really, really cool, but there are two downsides...

It is read as an external HDD also, so why not just get a large external to do the same thing. With an external you could take it to a friends house and if you have low soldering skills or just don't want to open your Wii you would be better off with an external.

Also, the thing is right on top of the heatsink, last time I checked a hot HDD is not a good idea. There isn't really much room in the Wii to put it anywhere else, and within a couple hours of play the heatsink will get hot enough to do major damage to the HDD. Although a member of WiiNews did bring up that this could open a market for extended cases.

You need to fix your links. And I agree on the overheating issues. I'd rather just leave the HDD to be external for easy access.

I think that a better option, if you really wanted an internal drive, would be some kind of casemod that allowed you to install the drive in it's own heatsynced compartment.
