burning downloaded xbox 360 games

hi all,
i'm new to this forum so i hope i get this right.
i've downloaded some xbox 360 games but haven't had any luck getting them to work after burning them. they downloaded with a dvd and an iso file. burning the iso file only didn't work but the program i used would only show the iso file, not the dvd file. that didn't work.
i then found an older thread that said the dvd file wasn't needed if i used imgburn and set something to a long number which i did. thinking i'd nailed it i burned a game on a verbatim dl disc and sent it to my nephew. i was his favorite uncle for only a minute or so. when he put the disc on his xbox 360 console it dispkayed a message telling him to insert the disk into an xbox 360 console, which he was trying to do.
can someone please tell me what i need to do to be able to burn a game that will work in his console? i would appreciate the help if someone would care to point me in the right direction

Please tell me the console is modded? what speed did you burn at. how old is the console?

the console is fairly new, it's the arcade model with a hd added. they just came out a few months ago. i doubt it's been modified. nephew lives 180 miles from me and doesn't have internet service to do anything online

omg- if its not modded it wont play backups.

Well a console will not naturally read a burnt game. The firmware has to be changed to Ixtreme 1.51. Depending on where in the world your nephew is located someone will be able to do this for them usually for between 30-50 US dollars. If you tell me where he is I may be able to tell you someone to get in contact with. he could also ship the console to someone, however this will typically cost a bit more just because of the cost of shipping. If he is in US i would accept such a shipment but i could also recommend someone who maybe locale.

hmmm, looks like he and i may be up the creek without the required paddle. he lives in houston missouri, i'm in joplin missouri, us of a. if you know of someplace close to either of us we might be able to ship it. what does the mod involve?

It removing the dvd drive hooking to computer removing current firmware and replacing with a "hacked/altered" firmware that makes the drive think every game inserted is an original/retail disk. I could do it but give me a couple minutes I'll see if I can locate someone locale to him to save on shipping becauses its like 15 each way. I would do it cheap since your a newbie so say $20. so it would cost you $50 or so because of shipping both ways.

Aye rule of thumb in forums is to read through the stickies. Stickies are the threads up there that are in bold. There you can find a thread made by me that shows how to burn a 360 game. Also another thread that says how to stealth patch the .isos.
But first you need to get your console modded.

looks like all may not be lost after all thanks to your help. i might be able to do the mod if i knew where to get it and what exactly to do. i'm somewhat computer literate, i've built and modded all my pc's since starting with a radio shack color computer with a whopping 4 k of memroy stock :)

well then as just stated everything you need is already available on this site. Now you just need to do some research/lots of reading. But being as it is a new xbox it will have a lite-on drive which will require a 360xtractor/ck3 and spear/probe which will run 50-70 depending on where you buy it. so if saving money is what your after doing it yourself wont work unless you plan to do more and charge for it.

thank you, i just did. i haven't found how to send private messages to members. in my rc airplane forums you can right click on a members name to get a send private message option. that doesn't work here.

sorry, this forum operates differently than rcgroups, the only other one i'm familiar with. i didn't mean to imply you couldn't read. i'm new here and just trying to not step on any toes. if i've ticked anyone off just kick me out.

the rcgroups have mostly older members and we tend to not be too uptight. i'm betting most members here are quite young by comparison and altho one of the things i always admired abiut young people is their open minds. i may be wrong about that. ill try to pm rather than post messages from now on

i think youve misunderstood me. posting messages is more than ok,i certainly wasnt saying not to. i was only saying that leaving your email in a post is against the rules and generally a bad idea since potentially thousands of people will see it. hope we cleared all that up.
