Question about CFW & POPSloader

Hello
So I am planning on buying a PSP (fat) and would like to play some of my PS1 games on it. Although I was wondering, considering you can use POPSloader to adjust the firmware compatibility with PS1 games, does it really matter which cfw I load on to the actual PSP itself? i.e, should I just go with the latest version?
Also, I read that a lot of PSP games require you to update the firmware version before they even work anyway, so would there be any real benefit in going with a lower version of cfw? (for my needs at least...)

Here's the list all the PSX games that work and the firmware each PSX title requires in order to run properly. http://www.gamerspress.com/index.php?tit...patibility_List

You have to change firmwares in order for a PSX to work properly. The benefit of Popsloader is that it allows you to boot games using different firmwares without having to actually flash your PSP in order to meet the required firmware.

Download the files from here. I recommend that you upgrade to CFW 5.00 and download the 5.00 popsloader because it allows you to boot up to 4.01. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/628073
