Iprep was good until i had to reinstall it then it didnt want to recognize ANY ixtreme firmware for ANY drive, so i went to using jungleflasher was ok but is pretty glitchy would free my PC when i connected a drive unfreeze when i disconnect it,and for some reason has a real hard time recognizing my flashed benQ basically like i have to get lucky for it to work/get recognized. ( might be my Via card not sure, but ive used the same card before to flash it and my friends and cousins xboxes)and the last flash i did on jungleflasher the drive got modded but now plays only backups and dvd moves no longer plays originals!! crazy huh? I was just wondering what programs methods you guys use, what via chips ect? Because im getting mixed results especially when trying to upgrade from like 1.5 to 1.51 on drives.

I use JungleFlasher to flash the boxes that are sent to me! I use to use iPrep, but since JF came out, it's a whole lot easier to use. I don't have a VIA chipset in my current system, but I've used them before, and never had problems with them. Make sure that it's a VIA6421. That's all I can really say...

When the drive is connected to the PC, and you power it on, you need to give it more time then usual to boot up. Mine will always freeze temporarily and after it's loaded, it will work just fine!

I agree with DavGerm4. Use Jungle Flasher v0.1.55. The tutorial is linked in my signature.

I am actually one of the few that don't understand the hype about JF. I use dosflash32, it's way more simple and in my case has proven to be more reliable.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

I could never get dosflash to work so I stuck with iprep until 1.51 came out and switched to jf. But I thnk jf is easy enough. 5 clicks and I'm done pretty much.
