I have been having some problems with Xbox Live lately. Problems like it doesn't connect anymore. I don't think I was baned because I did the test and it doesn't even connect to the network. Someone told me that it could be because of the MAC address and host name. I found the MAC address but I don't know where to find the host name. Is there any simple solution or would a router (like the D-Link dir-100, this being the only one I could find that isn't that expensive) make all the problems go away?

I was connecting the same way I am trying now and it worked, but someone said that my internet provider changed something. I don't have a router. I was asking if a router would be a solution to all of this.

then reset your modem, most likely your isp did not change anything, you just need to give your modem or router a refreshing reboot. and your are right you are not banned.
