i am talking with the regular controller not some custom XBMC setup...

i just tried COD4 for the first time .. how can anyone possibly enjoy playing it using the regular 360 controller? a mouse/keyboard on a real computer just seems so much better.

is it just something you get used to ?? playing an FPS with those little joysticks ... it's so inaccurate and tough to control

i have no interest in that XBMC stuff and i've heard it has a lot of lag compared to a mouse on a PC...

You get used to it over time. Plus you can adjust the sensitivity of the controls in the options.

i think it's easier with a controller but that's because i've always played fps' on a console since back in the bond 64 days.

to me it seems it's alot harder for people who are use to computer fps' to get use to the controller.

idk, I've never really had a problem with console controllers such as n64 ps2 360. But I've never been into playing games on a computer, screens to small for me. Only pc games I played was wolfenstein and doom.

But yea you have to turn the sensitivity up. For halo I have mine maxed on the insane setting; COD wise I'm pretty sure it's maxed as well.

Come talk with us on efnet at #elitemods !!! or just click ME

ALSO, DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES ON LIVE REGARDING MODDING CONSOLES, OR HOW I PLAYED A CERTAIN GAME EARLY. I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL INSTEAD DELETE YOUR MESSAGE, AND BLOCK ALL COMMUNICATION FROM YOU. JUST SEND ME A PM ON HERE.

I have it between the medium and lowest...so medium low.

If I turn it up all the way then I'd be spinning all over the place lol.

I'm the exact opposite. I couldn't use a keyboard/mouse to save my life.
I find for most console games you need the sensitivity at almost 10 or else you turn like a sherman tank.
BTW CawkFour nice reference to Goldeneye. Still my favourite FPS ever.

You can connect a normal pc mouse and keyboard to the 360 with a special adapter (if that's not what you mean by the "XBMC stuff"). I personally do not use my keyboard and mouse (even though i have adapter, it's usually on loan to friends... controller is easier for me), but it does not lag anymore than usual... much better for sniping.
"it's so inaccurate and tough to control"... that's what happens to me when i try to use ps controllers (btw they suck compared to 360)... try turning down the sensitivity.

Otherwise you should get use to it in time.

I actually prefer using a xbox controller for FPS games. To the extent that when I attended a PC LAN party on COD 4, I used my XBOX 360 controller. It wasnt very effective though as peeps using Keyboard and Mouse were able to look around faster and kill me :(

I can only think that those who prefer the xbox controler have never tried a G5 mouse...I have tried COD4 on all three platforms, and a G15/G19 with a G5 is by far the best control setup in my opinion. I will say that the 360 controller is better than a cheap 2 button +scroll optical mouse.

I am an old school PC gamer and also find it impossible to use a controller for FPS games. I would gladly shell out $90 for that XFPS Sniper Plus if it didn't have one glaring weakness (no mic support). There have been like 4 revisions to that device and it amazes me that he hasn't added standard mic support to the thing, that is the only thing holding me back.

I wish Splitfish would make a Frag FX for the 360. I use that on the PS3 to play COD games and it is an awesome controller.

I come from PC gaming and i love mouse and keyboard for FPS games. played in CAL for CSS a few years ago and all that jazz. i have adjusted to using controller for FPS. but i also played halo 2 and tons of other fps on console dating back to goldeneye. all the top players that use controller swear by the highest sensitivity settings. if you try to just go from low setting to high then yes it will feel like you are spinning everywhere. If you adjust the settings slower and gradually go up in sensitivity you will adjust much better. go from low to medium or slighty below and you will be able to turn faster and react quicker, after awhile you will feel like you need to turn even faster to get the kills quicker as your own reflexes improve. keep doing that and you will be at the higest setting and be owning before you know it. Also it helps to stick with one game when doing this, switching from halo 3 to a cod game will not work and will hurt more than help.

Plus halo 3 for some reason is way easier for me to aim in than any other fps game. i dunno why but the controls just feel more fluid and smooth

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

I grew up playing on consoles and can't see how anyone can use a keyboard and mouse to play games. The controller becomes second nature, once you get the hang of it. But like someone said before me, I'm sure your preference is whatever you started out on.

the mouse in FPS games allows you to turn as fast as you can move the mouse. a clear advantage over a controller even at the highest settings. it also allows you to aim much easier esp headshots at distance since you can move in much more precise fine movements. much easer to move the crosshair in small increments compared to a controller.
I played COD4 on PC the day it came out and about 4-6 months onward. continuously getting 1st place in almost everygame with 40+ kills per match. now on console it is hard for me to hang in the top 3 every game.

Some mouse and keyboard adapters require you to plug in a wired controller... so that's where you plug the wired headset. Otherwise, you have to buy a wireless headset.

You're thinking of the XCM XFPS. That thing is a p.o.s.

I use a Habu myself and love it. However I do hear a lot of people praising the G5. I may have to pick one up just to give it a try.

Avoid the XFPS at all costs. Especially if you're use to pc gaming. Go for the XIM360.

Currently my 360 fps setup consists of an XIM360, G13 keypad (this OWNS the G15 & G19), Habu mouse, and I'm playing on a 24" BenQ E2400HD. I wouldn't go back to a controller if I were paid. Sure there's a bit of a learning curve if you're use to controllers, but that may take a whole 20 minutes 8) Plus, when I switch from one game to another I still have the different controller buttons mapped to the same keys. So I don't have to relearn which key does what.

Also, it's a fact that fingers react/move quicker than thumbs. With the G13 I use, the thumbstick can be setup to mimic the 360 controller thumbstick. I tried it, and while some of the other G13 users prefer it, I went back to WADS. It's just all about preference.

And when it comes to veichles, i.e. tanks in CoD WW, I just pick up the controller.

My setup.

Nice setup!!

I was looking at the XIM 2 which looks awesome but comes with a $180 price tag (Yes that is one hundred and eighty dollars!!!) Is that the same thing that you have (XIM360). I wish it was more in the $100 range I would be all over it.

Thanks for the screenies! I would blot out my live username on the one though, maybe I'm just paranoid.

I built my own xim360 (xim2). I got in when it was first launched and diy kits were available. So I was able to build it for half the price.

The price is a bit much for most. It just depends on how the buyer looks at it. To most pc gamers, the $180 isn't a problem because they're use to spending cash on upgrades. To the average console gamer, $180 (equals 3 games or 6 -20 packs of verbs 8)) is an outrage. So it just depends on whether the user views it as an investent or not.

It's basically the same as the XCM XFPS. There's still a noticeable amount of lag.
