are u sure its the fans and not the drive struggling to read the disk. backups are harder than originals.

thats makes all the difference. it eliminates the possiblity of the drive noise but also shows it is not a problem with the flash. did you always play from the hd or just recently maybe you are noticing the fans because the drive is not making any noise.

Yeh i have always played from the hardrive, i have an unflashed xbox aswell and that is alot quieter, but this is not a hitachi, i have read that hitachi's are notoriously loud, i dont know maybe you are onto something with the backup disks being harder to read or something!!

but it shouldn't make a diffrence because you are not using the drive. unless the sound is only there when you are actually accessing the drive. is the noise constant or only sometimes?

Constant, but speeds up and slows down, doesnt slow down a great deal though, thats why i thought it may be a firmware issue, it was ok until flashed!! Also Thanks for the replies

Yes, has plenty of room to breath, all sides of tv unit are open, i have even tried taking it out of unit and standing it up so air can flow freely, like i said it has happened to both hitachi's i have flashed, was thinking, i know its not supposed to be reading from disk when you play from hdd but its got to be reading something from the disk in order for it to need the disk in the console right, maybe this is the problem, although all my backups are on verbs?

Update on my fans spinning fast:
Turns out it was only on this one game, when playing all my other games the fans spin normal, the game is Ninja Blade, anyone else have this problem?
