Nero 6.3.0.3- dvd-r burn failure.

I have tried with dvd-rw(memorex) and dvd-r(sony)

dvd-rw - always report that disc is not empty.

for dvd-r error message looks like
Disc not writeable. Insert writeable disc.
(Medium in drive: DVD-R. Medium required by compilation: DVD-R/RW.)

Nero version: 6.3.0.3

SONY VAIO - PCV-RS320
pioneer DVR-104

could someone help me?

I'm not that good reading all the particulars but 2 things jumped right out at me -

First, your media - Memorex has had serious issues in regards to quality - numbers as high as 50 % have surfaced - losing 50 out of 100 discs (this was just one person) is defiantly off the scale -

Memorex unfortunately, is ranked as a "Poor" DVD media.
It is quite good for text, spread sheets, Data, .jpg and .gif saving and it's fine for music but DVD's require your media to be the best -

Recommended would be Ritek G04 or Verbatim and media boasting Advanced Metal AZO Dye - a superior dye application is a good choice (a bit "pricey" though).

And the second thing that bothers me is;

Indicating that you have a lot of stuff running in the background. You are going to have to go into msconfig and shut a bunch of stuff down. Burning takes a ton of resources and you have 200MG being wasted.

I assume that you are aware that you should do absolutely nothing with your PC when it's busy burning - No surfing, no Email, Nothing ! It's one of the hardest things your system does - let it work.

Let's make those 2 changes and try again -

Hi guys I looked this over a bit and it sure seems like Nero is confused here.

Nero thinks your disc is a Ritek W-01 DVD R/W.

Nero says your burn failed a 47.5X.

The way I deal with Nero is to just remove it, using uninstall and Nero clean tools and then re-install.

My memory usage is up there too, My log shows:
Physical memory: 1015MB
Free physical memory: 620MB
Memory in use: 38%

I would try some different media just to make sure that was not the problem. Ritek G-04's are, as Pete said, excellent.

Have you ever been able to burn with your Pioneer? Can you burn a CD? Try to test it to make sure that it is not the problem.
Do you need to update the firmware?

I usually generate my logs from Nero Burning ROM. It looks like yours came from a different Nero feature. I'll guess and say Nero Startsmart, Right?

I installed a trail copy of CloneDVD and I could able to burn it successfully. probably the Nero might have corrupted while installing.

how can I close this thread?
