Xbox 360 2 red light and no picture or sound

I am trying to fix up an xbox 360 just for the experience of doing it. I got hold of an xbox 360 and also a 203 watts power supply that was needed for it. I was told that there are 2 red light on the console.

The problem that I have is that when turned on there is no sound or picture on my tv. I have checked the av leads on my other xbox and they work ok. In addition to this the xclamps have been removed and thermal paste reapplied to the cpu.

I am guessing that there is a problem with the graphics chip or conroller port where the av lead plug into, Am I right and is there a solution?

the unit will not boot with 2 lights. thats why you have no picture or sound. try removing the heatsinks applying a good thermal compound like articsilver and then put the heatsinks back on.

its very important to remove all old paste before putting new paste on. otherwise you are defeating the purpose. Get them to a shine so there is no old paste letf on them. If you have artic silver remover solution that is the best. if not you will have to use rubbing alchohol and scrub it with cotton swaps or something that wonnt scratch the surface. i have used lense cloth for glasses before, just dont try using them on glasses again or it will tear them up

yes I should have given those additional details sry. I actualy use Quickie gunk and goo remover. Works amazingly.

i have seen those used but never tried myself. i was worried about leaving a residue on the board maybe. ever had a problem with that? rubbing alchohol evaporates so fast i never worried with it

this looks just like alcohol. evaporates quickly. never seems to cause any problems
