BenQ reading firmware error, invalid status 0xF3

If anyone can help, I have a stock drive BenQ that gets into Vendor Mode and then doesn't read and gives me "invalid status 0xF3"

I've searched and no one has an answer. I connected up the BenQ, it showed up as:

Vendor: SATA
Name: DVD-ROM
F/W Rev: 6243
Reserved: OC

I have the right port selected (not using any VIA chipset) and when I click BenQ UnLock it works and I get:

Sending Magic Keys to Drive on port 0x0x09F0
..........................................
Done!
Sending Vendor Intro
Requesting Device ID
Manufacturer ID: 0xC2
Device ID: 0x11
Flash Name: MXIC(MX25L2005)
Flash Size: 262144 bytes


The drive shows in Vendor mode but when I hit read it gives me that error invalid status 0xF3. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I am powering the drive with CK3 as well.

Maybe try DosFlash32 (DosFlash 1.7).

the problem may have to do with your chipset. you say its not via. which chipset is it?

When I flashed my BenQ I found it way easier to use Iprep and make a bootable usb drive and flash it that way, very simple, minimal user input required. Look into it, Iprep is all over the place.

My boards Chipset is the NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI

I tried restarting my computer and it worked. Everything plays on it now.

I had the same problem and I found out that when I've put the drive in vendor mode the tray was not pushed far enought (more than half way in).
