This is gonna sound really stupid and i searched around for the answer without asking but i couldnt find it cuz i think it is a new level of noob....When i try to download a torrent for a game it gives me an error that says Download error torrent could not be opened becuase the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences.....i dnt really know what that means and i dnt have any idea what im supposed to do...i have windows xp if it helps. Sorry for sounding like an idiot
Well, you can try these few things, it should be pretty universal no matter what torrent app you are using.
First off, make sure you have a torrent app. Bittorrent, Utorrent, all of those are free open source applications. If you are a p2p fan, Frostwire doubles as a torrent application.
2. Save a torrent to your computer, then right click it, go to Open With, then choose program. Navigate to where your BitTorrent Icon is, and select it, make sure that "always use this application" is checked before doing so.
If that doesn't work, and you are using Firefox, go to "Tools\Option\Applications" and find where it says "torrent file" and delete the entry.
Do you have a torrent application on your computer?
Try the steps I listed, those are common fixes for that problem. By default some browsers will try and open it with a torrent application instead of downloading the torrent to the computer.
Try those steps and let me know whats up.
Mainly, do steps 1 and 3. Step two doesn't matter yet as you can't actually download the torrent files.
