Help upgrading hitachi 78 from 1.4 to 1.51

ok i bought and xbox off ebay with ixtreme 1.4 about a year agoand i have mlb 2k9 backup but it will not run.
i need to update to 1.51, however i heard you need to have an original key or something which i don't have because i did not mod it. how can i upgrade to 1.51 in order to play all these new release games?

use jungleflasher, use restore firmware, then you can update to 1.51.
use the guide that is with the program.

Awesome thanks i will give it a try, however i have only heard bad things about this jungleflasher. i have heard many people complain that it is hard to get the 360 into mode B.

I took a look at the Guide for jungle flasher. It looks REALLY confusing. i just have a sata cable from the Hitachi to the onboard chipset on the pc. i really don't understand all this CK3 pro connectivity kit. is there an easier guide to follow, or could u explain the basics of how i restore the original firmware, then flash it with 1.51
Also,
this should work even though i wasn't the person who modded the xbox and i don't have the drive key?

Actually dont worry, i think i will just use firmware toobox 4.8, it looks way easier.

if you think that the guide for jungle flasher is to confusing, than you need to keep your ass out of the xbox so your not on here wanting to know what happened when you brick your drive.
but if you try to do it, i wish you good luck.

dude ive modded psp's and wii's without a problem. but that guide i looked at for jungle flasher is not specific to 1 drive. the guide i listed is specific to hitachi 78. i just think thats easier. i will use firmware toolbox instead

ok, i dont care what you use my friend, either will get the job done.
all im saying is the guide for jf in not hard, in fact many people including myself prefer jf, its all in windows(no dos). but hey, use what you want, have a good time modding and like i said before "GOOD LUCK!"

really, if you just follow the guide that is specific to your dvd drive, it is all very simple to follow. It spells everything out that you will face step by step. JungleFlasher is pretty simple

But thats the thing there is no guide specific to hitachi 78, thats y i am still here

i predict a thread started by the op that will be something like this:
just bricked my hit 78 drive now what.
just read the guide a few times, its simple, but if you dont understand it get someone intelligent enough in your area to do it for you or ship it to someone and pay them a few bucks to do it.
I have lost all and any respect i had for this site!

Well you obviously cant see into the future lol. nah i find the firmware toolbox easier thats all. if i follow instructions properly nothing should go wrong.
