I have a semi bricked wii. I read this article:

He says it may require a modchip. Is this true? This been tested?

You need a modchip for that fix.

Plus I think it depends on what firmware you have semi-bricked the system to. I think this unbricks semi-bricked 3.1 susyems to 3.2 firmware. So if you semi-bricked updating to 3.2, 3.3, 3.4 or 4.0 I don't think the ISO fix will work.
