Okay I read a lot of stuff about people saying it wouldnt work cause of the controls, yeah well That dont matter Listen to my controller Idea, Now picture the Wii Controller w/n-chuck and then your DS
Wii Controller-DS Buttons
A-A
B-B
Z-X
C-Y
-/+=Pause/Select
D-Pad Down-Touch The Screen
Dpad <-and->-L and R
And to know where you touching with the stylus therell be a little dot indicating where your aiming, For the 2 Screens, make it split screen, Oh Jesus who coulda, woulda came up with this idea!/? The Reason I posted this is cause I see so much negative stuff about the DS on Wii when it could work, Id do it but I have no idea how to code the stuff...yet,You could use Wi-Fi to play with other homebrewers and also I believe, Not too sure about this but there could possibly be a way to connect the DS to the wii for that kind of play as if ure friend was near you, and then you say but why not go buy a DS well then I say cause sometimes u dont want a little dumb screen to play a game all the time, A DS dies and has to charge, When u have too many games and u loose half oh look there u got em all on an SD and it saved the day. If they was to make a DS Emulator working on the Wii Id download it and try it out.
And Since I dont check this much and made it just to say this email me at
The_Lord_of_Valhalla@yahoo(dot)com
and Ill get back to u A.S.A.P.
But if u do reply to this Ill get around to it next time Im around, but Email is best

Those controls suck... Make it use the classic controller; the layout is about the same as a DS, so games where you need to hit buttons on the DS and use the touchscreen would feel almost the same. Its not intuitive at all to have A and B in one hand and X and Y in the other (or any combination thereof).

Other than that, I don't think its controls that people are worried about. The DS doesn't have a fully functioning emulator on the PC yet (the closest I know of is no$GBA, and that hasn't had any updates in a long, long time). Putting one on the Wii would be extremely difficult.

Homebrew on the DS is easy and cheap enough at this point anyway. Less than $30 can get you one with about 2+ GB storage. And you cant say anything about the DS having to be recharged, the last time I checked the Wii doesn't have a nuclear generator built into it. If your playing Wii, you can plug your DS in...

In conclusion its not a bad idea. If one was made, I'd use it. Its just not worth it, and your reasons are somewhat flawed.

What are you smokin man? There are a bunch of functional DS emulators out there that work just fine:

Have you checked the compatibility lists for those emulators? A huge percentage is "Partial" or "Works, but slow". I said FULLY FUNCTIONING, and I'll stand by my statement until you show me a DS emulator with high compatibility, and most DS features (particularly WiFi emulation)

The emulators available on Wii have had PC counterparts for years, and as such have been refined and optimized. DS emulation hasn't had nearly as long, and is more complicated than the other consoles. The last time I checked, the N64 emulator for the Wii was still a bit glitchy, and the DS not only has slightly higher specs, but more hardware to emulate (touchpad, WiFi, etc)

Arnt we all flawed? But look its almost the same as a PC DS Emulator except the key bored and if u had a classic controller how are u gonna touch the screen, and U could change the controls around, Id just like to see it be done so I can play some Phantom Hour Glass on the big screen or play some Metroid Hunters on the Big screen would that not be balls to the wall?
And when something is first released its not awesome everything always needs to be tweaked or adjusted to fit every persons needs, Don't be negative for a second and just think of some positive

First we need fully functional PC emulators. I have tried alot of them, and they are hit and miss, just like the early stages of the N64 Emulator scene.

Why waste time writing an emulator for the underpowered wii when they cant even properly run on high powered PCs yet?

mvgc3 is spot on.

I said it wasn't a bad idea. I'm just a realist most of the time, I guess. At this point, its probably not going to happen. I would love to see a DS emulator on the Wii; it could potentially work well. No other console could emulate it more naturally.

As far as controls go, think about how you use the stylus on the DS. One hand is holding the DS while the other is using the touch screen. Now think about using a classic controller for the emulator; one hand is holding the classic controller, while the other is using the WiiMote. The classic controller is set up almost exactly like the DS, shoulder buttons, D-pad, ABXY, all in the same layout. Your controls work, but just aren't as natural. I know I have a hard time reaching above D-down, and below A. Imagine a game like Castlevania where the shoulder buttons are used frequently - it would become tiring to have to reach up to the D-pad, then back to A.

If you emulate the graphical side of things, and you CAN emulate the feel of the controls, you might as well.
