I have vista 32 and im trying to get the slak 2.0 to work or the jungle flash but I am having no luck with getting it into mode b, im am conecting it to the sata port that came on the computer and I have the Hitachi 47. Any help into getting this into mode b and flashed would be great

You don't need Slax to get the drive into Mode B. Connect the drive and go to the Hitachi tab. Eject the drive and click Mode B, it will close, give it 15-20 seconds for Windows to detect the drive. JF will detect what drive you have and choose the proper method to dump the firmware.

Also with Jungle Flasher, you need PortIO installed.

Is there any other way to do it with out having to have that, how come the slak will not work?

You don't need slax for a 47. A connectivity kit will put the drive into Mode B. Only drives that require slax is 78/79.

But using JF to send Mode B is a lot easier then booting to slax, and rebooting.

It still says that I need the PortlO, is there any way around this, seems like vista has made this harder.

Try the manual install. I know you can flash drives with Vista32.

just do as leerage said and read the tutorial, and instal the freaking portio, it only takes about 15 seconds to do it and you will be able to flash your drive.
