Wii makes loud clacking sound every so often

The wii has been modded with a wiinja deluxe, and has worked for quite some time. However, every now and then when a disc is inserted it makes a CLACK-CLACK-CLACK sound, almost as though something is trying to move and can't. However, the game works perfectly after insertion. This only happens occasionally, but I would be curious if anyone could lend any insight. It seems to me that it could be something that may lead to the eventual death of the console, but that's just speculation.

Also, I should mention that this happens with both backups and originals.
