Hi.

Im on Wii firmware 3.1E. When i try to play backups using WiiGator, it says DVD error.

So i was looking around and it says that i may need to install CIOS version 7. I have some sort of CIOS already on my wii which says ininstall IOS 249 and install this one. when i installed it, the games still didnt work.

So my question is, how do i install CIOS v7 so i can play my backups?

Follow this guide HERE.

You may need to uninstall any previous cIOS37 you have installed. If this is cIOS36_rev7 then you should be able to update using the guide I provided.

Still no luck. I followed the guide and i still get the same message when trying to play the backups. Ive used two DVDs. Philips and Verbatim.

Anyone else got any tips?

You might need to update the Wii.

3.1 is pretty low more then likely the game your trying to play needs some updated IOS installed and can't start without them.

In the above linked guide it shows you how to upgrade to 4.0 firmware. just make sure you have the Homebrew Channel and cIOS installed before following the 4.0 part of the guide.
