Hi, i bought a 360 off a friend who got the E74 error. I managed to scam it off him for a case of beer cause it was just collecting dust in the basement. So I took it home and fixed it up(warranty was already void he opened it before they extended the 3 year for E74 but he never touched anything) and she booted up and ran fine. Connected my HD and my cable and tried to log into live. To my surprise nothing. It says cannot connect blah blah check cables, power off modem etc. I've done EVERYTHING. I tried bridging it to my PC with crossover and nothing. It wont even get passed the cable part of troubleshoot. I took a look around, no solders are melted or deformed, is the NIC Port fried? I already called M$ they said since its been 'tampered' with they wont even look at it. Any help would be great.
-Thnx

Usually if there is an issue with the NIC, the xbox will give some kind of error. I take it you haven't seen any other kind of error?

Nope no error messages or anything. I talked to my friend and he said it clunked out a while ago like pre-NXE but then how would he get the new dashboard, off a HD or something?

yeah, if he stuck a HDD in that had the update, it would have updated his dash as well.

Not sure what the problem could be...I've never personally ran into that one. Guess the only thing I could suggest if even connecting it to your computer didn't work is check the cable, try to use it with something else or try another cable.

Just wondering, when you connect the ethernet to the xbox does your computer identify anything? Like the Media Center Extender or anything?

Run a xbox live connection test. If it fails on xbox live connections, check the status messages. If the z code is anything other than 0000 0000, something like 8015-190D it's been banned from Live.

Computer detects nothing and if u read up i don't even make it passed the cable on the xbox live troubleshoot it just says "There is a problem with your connection. Press more info for a description and how you could fix it. Press more asks me to turn off modem/router. Go through the steps. Then says cannot detect network hardware go to www.xbox.com/networkhelp which is useless too.

Is it plugged right into your router? Did you try rebooting your router? Do you have the ports open for xbox live?

is the 360 network settings set to automattically connect? they should be. the previous owner could have set specific ip or other settings and that is why it isnt picking anything up at all.

If you send me questions on Live about modding or anything related i will block you. Dont be an idiot.

well i guess it could just be a bad port somehow. im guessing it doesnt look damaged at all when you look in it.
you have a free 360 to play offline backups on and dont have to worry about being banned ...right

you could just sell it to gamestop for more than the case of beer you paid for it. they dont check them anyway.

All else fails you could get a wireless nic unless that connects to the Lan port?

yea you could test with a real 360 wifi adapter and see what happens. if the port is just shot that may be the only option

Nope wifi doesn't work either. I was thinkin to solder on another port like on the back of the motherboard to where the NIC's come through and see if it might just be inside of NIC's housing where the problems gone wrong.

I would test on another router first. Just because one box works doesn't mean this one will. Could be something like MAC filtering, or blocking on the router. Reset your router to defaults and see what that does before sodering. This isn't a common problem.

Just use this tutorial here,
http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/xbox-360...ection-xbl.html
you probably just have to setup your ip address and all that stuff automatically... what sort of router are you using... i couldn't connect my 360 to live at first, but after hours of talking to some guy from india from ms support, i finally got it working.

** UPDATE ** Well its screwed up again. Turned it on the other day and got an E73 error. Re-cleaned the GPU and CPU and put fresh paste on, booted it up and RROD. First time on this box. Secondary error code is 0110 which doesn't really help at all. It hits RROD before the DVD Rom even loads... any suggestions?
