Ok, I accidently my 360 DVD drive, BUT I do have the original key AND the hacked 1.51 key.
Few questions:
1. According to my research, the 360 console is expecting to read the original DVD key. Does this rule out the option of buying a broken 360, and swapping dvd drives?
2. Why do ppl keep the key's so secretive (blacked out in screenshots) if supposedly it wont work in other ppl's 360 console anyways.
3. If I buy ANY DVD drive, can I... put drive in 360, erase FW, flash FW w/ my previous hacked 1.51 key?
What do you mean by Microsoft? I get the feeling M$ does not want us to share dvd key's, but what difference does it make. Thousands of ppl have XP and Vista w/ the same keys... so why not DVD drives? Does it increase your chance of getting banned from Live?
To add to my first Q, what is expecting the original DVD key? Memory on mobo, CPU, GPU...not too sure how this kind of thing works.
its called paranoia dude. people just dont want to take the chance thats all. some people dont post their gamertag on sites like these for the same reason.

Sharing the DVD drive key would simply not work, they are unique and only work on one console, which has the correct key stored on a chip on the mainboard.
You can still flash the key to any Xbox 360 drive but you might have to spoof the drive.
I wouldn't tell my dvd key either because noone knows how M$ bans or if your console can be identified by M$ because of the DVD key. On the other hand, there are even people who post their gamertags here and if M$ can't identify them on Live the company is more incompetent than everyone around here expected.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.
It's a sure bet that MS also browses the different hacking sites and forums.
Posting your gamertag on site like those isn't enough for MS to ban you. Just because people talk about modding isn't proof enough. But, if someone were to post their key, that is obvious proof that the user broke MS's TOS... even it the drive is still original. MS can identify a console by it's key obviously. So, in theroy, MS could see your posted key and ban that console for that sole reason.
Thanks for all the info, you guys answered my Q's...
