flashed benq (VAD6038) Drive replacement

Hi, my benq drive is flashed with ixtreme 1.51. It has been working until now, i get the open tray error whenever i put a game disc in (even originals with no scratches). I think the laser has finally died in the drive because i cleaned it with alcohol and same error comes up. I dont have the OFW key just the flashed key. I was wondering how i should go about replacing the drive? Should i buy a new benq drive and spoof it with my custom firmware from old drive, or do i need my original firmware? I also thought about replacing the laser but I dont know much about some static paste thats on there that you have to remove. Sorry for such a long post but all help is welcomed!

Thanks for the Reply....I bought a brand new benq Drive but the FW Ver Is different from my previous benq drive. Should i just flash it with my OFW from my previous drive or spoof it?

Replacing your old Benq with a new Benq... just swap the boards. It requires just a little VERY basic soldering which anyone should be able to do.

Or just take the laser out of the new drive and put it in the old one. The static point will already be desoldered if it's in a whole drive.

Thanks for the replies guys. I got the new drive and the FW's were different so i just spoofed, erased, then wrote new firmware to the drive. Thanks for all your help!
