I bought a 2nd 360 from ebay that i planned to user to mod and tinker with (which i think was my first mistake).
I was able to flash my Hitachi to ixtreme 1.51 and everything was working fine. However, I notice that the xbox freezes randomly while playing both originals and backups. It does not matter whether i Install them to the hard drive. I have also checked my power supply and it is not overheating.
sometimes it freezes after 30 minutes, sometimes it freezes after 5 minutes.
When it freezes, i cannot exit to the dashboard and if i eject it does not go back to dashboard. I do not get RROD so i am not sure how to fix it. I have tired "the penny trick" but that does not seem to help. Can someone help? I have run out of ideas!

I had/have this problem aswell, when you first start up the 360 (or boot a game), try not pressing any buttuns immediately, not to sure why but pressing buttons at startup often freezes my 360.
Unfortunately, you will get rrod very soon. When it freezes, does weird lines come across the screen and does a high pitched sound come from your tv? That's what happened to me and I got rrod very soon afterwards. My 360 can still run even for about an hour but it will then freeze and give rrod as soon as i turn it back on. You will probably get secondary error code 0102 which means the ram, cpu or gpu is rising up from the motherboard because heat causes the board to flex. You could try the x-clamp fix, that is if your warranty sticker is destroyed. if not, send it back to Microsoft to get it fixed for free.
these guys are both right in saying it is the early signs of RROD, however it does not mean it is going to happen very soon. I have seen boxes do that for months before they got it.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Now that I open it and take a good look at my motherboard, it appears that the "refurbishers" put in X Clamps. Do you suggest that I make the screws extra tight? Would this help?
