Okay. First off, i'm using verbatims and 2.4x writing speed.. with the img burn program. I copied the iso and everything just fine with img burn and the burning process worked fine with no errors. I put the disc in my 360... it says play game. *click* then screen goes gray for a while then proceeds to say that the disc is unreadable. I know it isn't a problem with the 360's firmware..(friends back up copies work on it) The only other solution i can think of is my DVD drive i'm using to write the DL Dvd with. My computer is pretty old... 5 years maybe.

The drive is a: Phillips DVD+RW DVD8601

I'm not sure if this drive is compatible with burning the games or not. The drive hasn't been flashed with new firmware or anything like that either...(Don't know if that's an issue)

But that's about it i guess. Thanks in advance. I'm new to all this so please bare with me. :)

Also, i've heard a lot of good things about the pioneer drives for burning 360 games. Maybe i should look in to buying one of those? Just a thought. Thanks.

Okay. Downloaded the program... it says it passed everything so far and is now on the "Checking game CRC" with about 10 mins for the estimated time left. I'm on the right track? haha

Alrighty.. i've done what you said. Ran it through and it said everything was successful! Should i try burning again? or do something else first?

Checking it with abgx was just to ensure the image was ok. So we can scratch that off (since it passed everything). If your drive is able to play your friends's backups without any issue, then you can most likely scratch off your 360 drive. That really only leaves your media, and your burning drive.

Try testing a backup on one of your dvd's but with a different burner, just to see if that fixes it. If not, try it on a different burner with different media.

hrmm well if your burner is incompatible with clonecd that is a bad sign... you might have been right in your first post that the burner is just out of date and needs to be upgraded...

you could probably benefit from getting a new one... a pioneer like you mentioned

okay. so i tried it with a different burner now.. (clonecd) and to no avail. same thing happened as with img burn... loaded up said play game.. then gray screen.. then disc is unreadable. so i don't know. maybe my drive is just not good enough or something. :/

You may want to try increasing your laser's intensity using POT Calibration. Try out the below link:

well. i have 3 burned games that i obtained from a friend that work perfectly on my 360 as is... so do you think that the laser would be the problem? but maybe it's still worth a try...

@droptine

I have almost the same issue. The thing is my old games work but recently i was getting open tray message. So i keep ejecting and closing the tray for about a minute or so and the drive recognizes teh game.

Give it a shot, hope this helps.

Just a (maybe) dumb question, what version of iXtreme do you have on your Xbox 360 drive and what game were you trying to burn?
And try burning faster, Verbatims support up to 8x speed and produce least errors when burned that fast.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

I thought burning faster than 2.4x will most likely have more chances of not getting read by 360? If faster is better than i would certainly burn at 6x atleast.

That's a myth. There were guys who used Nero CD-DVD Speed test, even some here on the forum, compared logs from burns with lower speed and burns with faster speed, these logs clearly showed that the faster burns had less errors.
Still would be interesting to know what version of iXtreme is on your drive and what game you are trying to play.

@Eisherz

If you're referreing to me, i'm still using iXtreme 1.4. I am patching the wave3 with patch to make them work with my FM. But the games im trying were even before wave 3, like wheelman, GTAIV etc. I remember burining earlier games at faster speed and used to have no problem. I'll try the new ones at max speed and see. Worse comes to worst i make another coaster ;)

went through this issue for weeks trying to find a solution. I am using a hitachi 46 and no game wanted to play. After about thirty min of opening and closing tray, the disc would play. after all the suggested methods failed, I bought a pioneer burner and verbatim dvd+r dl. with this solution alone the problem remained but the amount of open/close cycles dropped by more than half. What works and what I still do is turn on the console and let it warm up for about ten min. Best way is to put in your loudest spinning orig. and let it run. games with demo screens like mortal kombat work best. After the console is good and warm you should have no problem playing your game. So turn your box on and watch some tv (or just stick it in the oven) <<<DON'T DO THIS!!. POT calibration will eliminate the need for this but is less than recommended as it is a pain and a little sketchy!!!
