New Xecuter RROD PRO Repair Kit with X-Clamps
>> From team-xecuter.com:
[QUOTE]
We released our original Xbox 360 RROD repair kit during Christmas 2008 - and after over 100,000 sales it has proved to be a superb success.

Of course there were still many consoles that it could not fix, and 360 modders were using an X-Clamp kit along with the Xecuter RROD kit to do a more robust repair. Naturally we wanted to make sure that our customers had the very best solution possible so we took the time to investigate the many many X-Clamp kits available and found that no two were the same, with many giving varying opinions and methods.

So we spent a week or so testing the ass out of many many different fix designs and after finding what we think is the absolute perfect solution we can now launch the Xecuter RROD PRO Repair Kit for the Xbox 360.

Not only have we included our specially formulated K-Pads for the memory chips, we have custom designed our own X-Clamp and have manufactured the bolts so that the length is the absolute precise length and thickness to offer the very very best solution.

We also include perfect sized washers and the best quality silicon paste to enable you to repair both the GPU & CPU all in one kit. All other tools are of course included.

As a test, we purchased exactley 100 RROD consoles from a games store and applied the fix to all of these. After bench testing for 7 days we have 87 consoles working perfectly with just the RROD Pro Fix, 6 others needed a DVD drive replacement and 7 could not be repaired at all - so were returned to M$ for replacements

We are very pleased with the results and believe this kit will be the definative repair kit available anywhere for the XBOX 360.

Is their fix going be exactly the same one as the Hybrid RRoD fix. I was planning to fix my xbox with the homemade hybrid fix, should I wait for their kit and buy it or is it the same as the Hybrid fix? I know their original kit was just 4 pieces of plastic cut to the size of the memory cards. So I'm not too sure in their new kit. Now that Microsoft has started taking the memory chips of the bottom their first kit no longer works for the new 360s.

Funny, I was just about to post about the x-clamp fix.

An old 360 of mine has been sitting around, busted with the 1 red light, E74 error.

I tried to fix it yesterday by using these vids

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wa05IgHr2s&feature=channel

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aczn8lpDOlc&feature=channel

My heatsink was different though so I had to try variations of that fix. Yesterday I managed to change the error to E73, but still couldn't get the greenies.

Tonight after a 2nd attempt with my own variation, I changed the error to 3 red lights, which is what was supposed to happen so I saw a ray of hope.

After overheating it for about 30mins (as instructed by the video), and then letting it cool for an hour, I turned it on and hello green lights. The tray kept ejecting though, and I thought I was still screwed till all I did was change it from horiz to vert and bingo, disc tray stayed closed.

I've just been playing GTA, Tiger 09, Wheelman and Halo 3 for the last hour and it didn't crap out. I've even turned it off and back on again and it's been all good.

It would be so nice if Microsoft could make these things properly though, I find it a little stressful not knowing if my xbox is gonna crap out on me, I'm fairly addicted to the comfort of having a 360 sitting there to be used whenever I get the urge.

Mine just has 2 red rings error code 0012 should be easy to fix because it still turns on the down side is it only works for 15 minutes. Did you use the hybrid fix?I know that the tutorial at xboxexperts was with the new heat sinks (three of them). Also to keep it from over heating do the fan shroud mod here

I recently just bought a 7/32" drill bit to make the 5mm holes in the chassis. It actual equals 5.55 mm is that going to be a problem.

I'm not sure if it was the hybrid fix, it was whatever fix those videos showed.

5.55mm should be fine, those holes are drilled to let your 5mm screws fit through, so 5.55mm shouldn't matter, might even make things easier.

I don't think that is possible since I am drilling through the metal case. I don't even touch the mother board with the drill is their a trick to getting the x-clamps off so they aren't all bent up?

If I may ask how did you do them without drilling?

I just did 10 mm screws and used two washers on each side along with washer on memory chips. Guess it's not really the hybrid since I'm not drilling.

For the x-clamps it seems a hook used for embroidery is the best.

I used a flathead screwdriver, didn't really care about bending them cause I wasn't planning on putting them back on.

Taking the x-clamps off is when you need to be careful, lot's of stuff you shouldn't touch is exposed around them.

ok i have to ask, since i have been out of the scene awhile now. i always knew there were people that have drilled their motherboard, but i thought that was just a different option you had. what is this hybrid you are refering to? all of the consoles i have done I havnt needed to drill holes.

The hybrid is basically: you drill holes in to the metal case the size of 5mm in my case 5.55mm. Then you take off x-clamps, and replace thermal paste. Then you cut up a credit card and place them around the two chips. You then place the heat sink on the chips to see if they get a good print of the chip. Usually it doesn't so you sand the credit card pieces down to make it perfectly level. Then you take the x-clamps and make them perfectly flat. After this your put three metal washers on each screw the place the x-clamp upon them. Then you cut foam pieces the size of the chips and place them on the x clamps. Then you just put your motherboard back in. The basis of this fix is about keeping the everything perfectly flat. For more detailed instructions go here

(edit) Does anyone know a good way to debur holes (the excess metal left after the hole is drilled)? How do you tell if you have a uni bit drill piece.

Yeah in the end I think it's worth it though because it sounds like a solid fix. DO you do the original x-clamp fix.

After bench testing for 7 days

This has me unimpressed. I've never had a classic X-clamp fix go bad, (I've only done 3) but I was under the impression that they failed after a while. More in the range of a month than a week. Am I mistaken?

Same here but it's only been two days. LOL. $2.00 for the kit I use from the hardware. Can't believe people charge $15 for their ebay kit
