it appeared to work and my console plays retail games fine but when i put in burnout paradise backup i burned on verb x8 dvd+r dl the game spins the xbox says reading then it says open tray. i ran the disk though xdvdmulleter and i says it fine and should play.. anybody have a solution?
i dind't mention in the question but the first time i flased it a couple of days ago to 1.4 ixtream i had exactly the same problem so i restored it and re flashed it to 1.4 a few time with no change. i would rather die than reflash it again i was thinking about following this tut http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=550832 but its a big thing to do if it doesnt work. is 1.51 the latest firmware for my hitachi 46 drive? i would check myself but i carnt get on xbins atm
ok i got it to play burnout paradise, but i can't get it t play any wave 3 games i tried xmen wolverine i just said "open tray" and im reluctant to burn battlestations pacifc (wave 3) incase that doest work,, can anybody verify that when the .dvd file is loaded in to image burn the lable is DVD ROM imp id is MICROSOFT CD IMAGE UDF and the file sys is ISO9660, UDF (150) i just need to know im burning it right.
ok have you done a pot calibration yet. As i said I have had this problem many times before with hitachi's and the only way to get it to read properly is to do a pot calibration.
i would agree with this now. since you re-flashed and are getting a game to work. now that that equation is eliminated, we can rule it out and focus on the drive itself.
let the console warm up and burn only verbatim dvd+r dl on a pioneer burner (or other recommended by this site) same drive, same rev, same problem. wave 3 games need 1.51 or higher. pot calibration would be required for faster boots but if you wait about ten min (or less with a game spinning in the drive) you would have no need. hitachi is a finiky little bitch but it works fine.
Listen Listen Listen! You need to do a Pot Calibration. The flash should be just fine if its reading originals. That should tell you that the firmware is not corrupt. If you don't have a multimeter you should go and get one from say, Lowes or Home Depot, that is if you are in the states. Hitachi Pot's are usually in the range of 3.4 to 3.6 and you need to get it to about 3.0 or no lower than 2.8 to prevent a laser burn out. Just google Hitachi Pot calibration and you should be on your way to playing your backups .
