Okay so i bought the (whats supposed to be the newest and fastest) BenQ VAD6038 DVD drive for my Xbox 360.
Plugged it in properly, attempted to load numerous amount of my working REAL games and none load.
I get the white screen of death saying that i should insert this disc into an Xbox 360 console...

The only thing it does play is DVDs. But playing games on my 360 would be a nice advantage you know?
ahaa

anyy help is reallyy appreciatedd!
thannkyouu :]

Newest drive is the Lite On. And you can't buy a drive and install it without first flashing your key to it.

you need the old drive... the one before you installed the new benq ...

have to extract the key off it and then flash it to the new drive. there are lots of tutorials available regarding extracting the key and whatnot.

hopefully you still have the old drive =)

Basically you install Jungle Flasher. You will need a Via 6421 Card for your computer. Connect it up, put in B mode, Then do a intro, and a read and save the bin files to your computer. Do not do any write, etc! Then connect other drive up, load the firmware you saved as source and iextreme firmware as target. Then click on spoof target. Good to follow jungle flasher guide as well.

You'll need to gather together some more info before you can procede.

- What amount of techical "know-how" do you have? For some people the process of flashing their drive is overwhelming. It is possible to ruin your drive (depending on which model it is).

- What chipset does your pc mobo have? If you decide you want to try and flash your drive yourself, not everyone has to buy the via6421 pci card.

- Do you want to mod your console or leave it stock? If you want it stock then the new drive has to be the same model and version as the old one.

It's not b mode... it's mode b, and that only pertains to Hitachi drives.

Right, I wasn't harping on you, I was just clearing up a minor mistake 8)

You wouldn't need to worry about it either way because you want to go from the Sammy to a Benq.

Here's a tut for you to read through about spoofing drives. http://robinhoodsplayground.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=197&t=233 It's an older tutorial, but it'll give you the basic idea. How you spoof your drive will depend on which program you'd want to use to flash with.

The easiest way is to use dosflash. There's less steps to follow and then you could use Toolbox to spoof the firmware. Again, with Toolbox it's pretty straight forward.

The popular way is to use Jungle Flasher, which would also let you spoof your firmware. JF will either be a breeze or a pain. It'll just depend on whether your pc is set up right.

What you'll need to do is decide which method you want to use to read/flash and then go from there.

Which ever method you decide, you'll want to follow the guide which goes with it for reading your firmware. You'll need to read the firmware from your old Sammy, and you'll need blank firmware for the Benq. Once you have the fw for both drives then you're ready to spoof.

There's both text and video tut's here for the different methods available. http://www.robinhoodsplayground.com/index.php Again, you're going to have to do some reading and decide which method you want to go with.
