Video Of HomeBrew Installer Loading With This Exploit

Quote:
bannerbomb alpha
compatible (in theory) with 3.x-4.0

1. Get a SD card. If it has a private directory, rename it temporarily, e.g. to "privateold". Having other saved channels on the same card will screw it up.
2. Download aad1f_v102.zip and unzip it onto the SD card.
3. Get a DOL or ELF and put it on the SD as /boot.dol or /boot.elf.
4. Press (Wii), Data Management, Channels, SD. Then insert the card. It should either pop up Load /boot.dol? or freeze.
5. If it pops up a dialog, then fill out the survey.
6. If it freezes, follow these diagnostics:

* Did you use the SD menu (4.0) or click Savedata instead of Channels? If so, then you're dumb
* Otherwise, try a different version. The system menu is somewhat unpredictable; while most people should be able to use version i don't know yet, some might need another version.
Download exploit from here... http://bannerbomb.qoid.us
Download HomeBrew Channel boot.dol file here... http://hbc.hackmii.com/get.php?file=the_homebrew_channel-1.0.1.tar.gz&key=6a32cdf074e692062d41ae31eaccf40c73e30245

@cheez_cs

The bannerbomb alpha page says that the Homebrew Channel Installer does not work.

The person in the video booted the Installer itself but never did run it. So does this exploit actually work with the Homebrew Channel Installer or not?

The person in the video is me, and I have used this exploit to install the HomeBrew Channel on 2 virgin Wii. It states that this exploit does not install the HomeBrew Channel, it is just a .dol launcher. The Twilight Hack was just a .dol/.elf launcher, not a HomeBrew Installer. As long as you load the HomeBrew Installer .dol with the exploit it will install it.

OK I didn't know if you actually ran the installer or not and installed the HBC on a virgin 4.0 Wii.

Does the serial of your system start with LU64 or LU65?

Then you can use this guide HERE.

After following the guide your Wii should be able to install cIOS/WAD/Backup Launchers/USB Loaders/VC/WiiWare etc. etc.

Hmm... Guess that defeats the object of being on V.4

Probably wont bother, as I don't fancy taking the risk of messing around too much with the firmware. I can all ready play the games I get with the wiikey.

Do you think you'll ever be able to install wads without downgrading?

So has anyone managed to downgrade from 4.0 to 3.2 etc?

I've got the HBC channel installed etc and I can use emulators etc, but whenever I try to downgrade or install a backup launcher I get errors.

I am doing exactly what the instructions say, and it locks up.

if i rename the downgrader to boot.dol and just run it, i can move around on the menu, but when i press "a" to downgrade ios35, i get an error of -106.

Mine is not a lu64+, the serial starts with lu31.
