He doesn't have the key or the orginial drive. Seems to think this chip would make any drive work?

all he needs is the modded drive/whatever drive he is using, they make extractors you just hook up to the dvd drive, and it will give you the key, similar to the lite-on probe for getting the key off of that dvd drive. so then you don't have a chip that can only be used once, an extractor can be used over and over again. and i am pretty sure it costs roughly the same.

You're not hearing me homesick. He doesn't have the orginal key or drive, so you cannot spoof it to another drive. He thinks this chip will make the drive he bought work since he DOESN'T have the orginial drive that came with the xbox nor the keys.

Close. He bought it with two drives and was told one was the orginial drive (which is wasn't I found out)

I'm going to agree that it wouldn't work. The modchip contains the firmware onboard for playing backups. That's why there's no need to flash the drive.
But that's all it has... modded firmware for booting backups. The console still runs the same security checks as it does with original drives and flashed drives. So if that drive key is missing, even that modchip having it's own firmware onboard won't help it.

Lego.
On occasion I like to just pop in games which require no brain wave functions what-so-ever. And the Lego games fill that niche pretty well.

homesick, actually Lego Batman is pretty kewl to play if you kiddo's. My nine year old loves for me to play this with him. But he always get to play Batman and I'm his trusty side kick "Robin".

lol yea i am just giving bhetrick a hard time, i actually have a copy sitting here, i have just never put it in the console. barely getting by with my dvd drive as it is, don't wanna push it over the edge! lol *cough* j/k B :D
