okay i am completely new to this. i have managed to flash my benq dvd drive and now i am to the part where i need to actually make the "copies" of my originals. i've read that "kreon" drives work best, others say the actual samsung drive out of my 360, ( which i dont have, mine is benq), others say that kreon is poison... i just really need some up-to-date expertise as to which program: Xbox backup creater, wxripper, etc. and which drive is the best for accomplishing this. any and all comments are appreciated, and yes i know someone is going to say to look at the sticky, i already did, and there are mixed opinions on that as well...

There is nothign wrong with kreon drives and ripping them. xbox backup creator works good.
SH-D163B Sata, look for that one if you can. I just got mine, and it works great, and the backups work just fine.

I have a SH-D162D IDE with kreon firmware on it, hasn't refused a game so far.

Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

New firmware comes out Thursday where you can rip games from your 360. Don't waste your money.

Consider this when purchasing a Kreon drive.

Quote:
Is there such a thing as a bad Kreon rip?

Short Answer: No, at least not yet, and if MS changes the angles in the future, abgx360 will know (by decrypting the CCRT) and will be able to adjust bad angles.

Long Answer: Current versions of Kreon?s ripping firmware use preset values for the angle responses to Challenge Types 24 and 25 (Response Types 7 and 5) which isn?t a problem because currently all Xbox 360 games use the same target angles. Kreon applies a small jitter to the preset angles, and sometimes it will give an angle of 359 degrees for CCRT target angle 1 (deviation of -2). When stored in the SS in LSB format this angle is also known as 6701, and back when the now useless KreonChecker was introduced these angles were thought to be timing values, and a value of 6701 was thought to be radically different from values like 0000 and 0100 observed when ripping the same disc with a Samsung drive. Although original firmwares may use timing to calculate the angle measurement, the difference between 6701 and 0000 is actually only 1 degree and definitely not a huge difference as originally thought. All was not in vain however, since this discussion brought about the realization that iXtreme would improperly jitter 6701 to 6801 (359 to 360), which is completely invalid and not an angle that original firmware will ever return. The proper behavior is to rollover from 359 to 0, which was implemented in iXtreme v1.4 and is a very important security update if you use or plan to use Xbox Live, even if you only play backups ripped with a Samsung drive because it can also return an angle of 359, and for some discs it?s actually the most likely measurement. And yes, this means that you can stop using KreonChecker! abgx360 has an option (not enabled by default) under the AutoFix tab that will adjust 359 degree angles to 0 so that older versions of iXtreme will not exhibit this bug, but the best solution is to simply update your firmware to the newest iXtreme release for your drive, and there will be no need to reburn any of your backups.
Personally I use a spare BenQ flashed with the 0800 firmware. Reason being is that it gives a TRUE response vs. the STORED response of the Kreon drive. IF MS decides to change the angle, ABGX will detect it and fix it, to make it so MS will receive the proper response. If MS does go ahead and decide the change the angle, obviously they will be looking for a different response. Which will more than likely result in a new iXtreme firmware needed for people to play backed-up games with bad angles. The iXtreme firmware update will fix those angles on the fly just like ix1.4 and above does for the 359 angle.

Yes, if the 0800 firmware is flashed to your drive, Windows will detect the drive and you can use back-up programs to copy your games. When you are done, you will have to flash iXtreme back to the drive so you can play games on it. But now, iXtreme 1.6 will have the 0800 option enabled in it, giving you stealth firmware, along with the option to rip your games. You won't have to flash back and forth.

I'm using abgx to verify battlestations pacific and sacred 2. When i go to abgx.net, these two games are listed in there database when you select text list by alpha or date. When i run the abgx360 application, it says failed to find .ini in online database, and it cannot autofix it. I have the most up to date version of ABGX360 1.0.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried backup with a Benq on 1.60 myself and have had no joy what so ever.
Windows Xp Pro see the drive and gives it a drive letter. XBC 2.8 Build 275 starts the process of a complete backup but at around 5% I keep getting either 'Xtreme Style game partition is not available' or 'unlocking game partition failed'.

Here is the log for last try,

There have been like a dozen toppics telling us that a new version of XBC is made atm that supports ripping with iXtreme 1.6, which the actual XBC doesn't.

That one is easy to answer:
You don't.
Or google for hotswap xbox 360 backup, but you have to open up the drive (the enclosure), the games might not be stealth and compared to the other methods it's just a pain.
Or are you actually talking about how to burn downloaded iso games? If that's so just do a forum search, there is even a tutorial for that around (little hint: READ THE ULTIMATE STICKY STICKY).

Hi, I am new to this as well. I have backed up a couple games and gotten them to play. Now I am doing UFC and it just pops up in the 360 as a movie. I am pretty sure its just me not setting something, but for the life of me I cannot figure it out. I have searched quite a bit, but maybe I am searching for the wrong things. My xbox has xtreme 1.5 and I used XBC 2.9 and ImgBurn 2.4 I checked the iso with abgx360 and it passed and was verified. Any help, suggestions, anything would be appriciated. Thanks

Maybe the person who modded your system is lieing to you and don't want to flash your 360 again. What you explained was the symptoms of not having the correct iXtreme for Wave 3 games.

Tell your modder to update you iXtreme to the latest which is 1.6.

I found this on another thread for you to patch and play on earlier ixtreme firmware... but if you plan on going XBL, this can get you banned, so upgrade to iX 1.6, or stay off XBL with these games :

Hey guys, this patch http://rapidshare.de/files/46324703/Xbox360.Wave.3.Patcher.rar.html will let 1.5 users play Wave 3 games.

1- Launch ppf-o-matic3.exe

2- Select your ISO

3- Select patch v14-15.ppf

4- And burn

There's no need to upgrade to 1.51 unless you're going online.
