Hey guys. I know there are a lot of threads on here, as well as other forums, about flashing. But one thing I haven't seen is anything on Esata. Anyone had any luck flashing a drive with Esata?

Reason why I'm asking is I just noticed(again) that my laptop has a Esata port. This would be really handy when flashing if I can use it. I know that JungleFlasher and iprep can be picky about what drivers, ports, whatnot that you use.

So, again, just wondering if anyone has had any success.

Well I'm pretty sure my laptop has all AMD chipsets, lol. Oh well, worth a try right?

It's worth a try, but if it's not a VIA or nForce chipset for the sata, then it most likely won't work. I had a laptop with external sata, but never thought about using it for flashing. It would be nice for some people if it works!

Pretty sure AMD doesn't make chipsets. You're thinking of the CPU dude. The chipset is usually intel, nvidia, via, etc.

I might be wrong, but I am pretty sure AMD makes chipsets. This is a diagram with my AMD utility.

And heres a link about them:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_AMD_chipsets

You need to realize that not all esata ports are the same. If it worked for you that's great, but you still have to realize that they are not all the same, and it may not work for him!

@ gameover

I realize thats what you meant. I double checked before I posted because I was the same way, I thought that intel, via, etc were the only ones to make chipsets. Thought I might have read something wrong, so I checked again. We all learn something don't we.

Yes we do. I could careless what chipset I have unless I need a certain one like for the 360.

Since it is probably not going to happen with a eSATA connection.

Is there a Sata Card that just plugs into a laptop? Like through a USB port, or even the esata port?

I searched ebay but came up with nothing. So i figure i would ask.
