Ok so my computer froze while flashing a 0059 hitachi and bricked it so with several dumps of that original firmware with key i ordered a benq.. got it in and dumped its firmware and spoofed it with my key.. and hmm well im getting e64... well i didnt have any issues getting the drive to load and dump or write/erase in JF, Dosflash or using the 360 Mod disc.. and after literally 100s of flashes i still cant get it working..

I have even had other people prepare the bin for me by giving them the originals and such.. what really throws me for a loop is that i keep reading that if you dont have the right key you will have nothing more than a dvd player.. well unfortunately i dont even have that functionality..

what could be causing all of this? if it was just a bad flash i would have gotten it by now.. if it was an incorrect key or corrupted key then i would be able to load the dashboard and play dvds just not games.. what else is there?

one more thing is that the original firmware for the benq doesnt show up as PBDS VAD6038-64930c as i believe it should.. it shows up as SATA DVD-ROM 6243..

Check the POT of the laser. What's it set at? Test the laser. Move it back, turn of the box and see if it blinks two times.

im not sure how to check the POT.. i mean i know what it is and where it is.. how to adjust on.. basic electronics.. but is there a good guide showing how to see what its set to?

and the laser moves halfway back to center then blinks then moves all the way back to center and blinks again.. im not 100% certain.. but when i bought the drive i was under the assumption in was new..

Sounds like it's good then. Just get a multi meter and set it to 20. Then you'll notice TWO pots on the drive. The one you want to adjust will be like 4.00 or 3.90 or something in that range. I had one the other day at like 5.4 and it was way too high. Bump it down to 3.04 and all was well. See where it's at and post back. Also though e64 error meant you flashed it with the wrong firmware. Are you sure you are flashing it right? Use jungle flasher and load source (would be drive that came with board firmware), then put the benq 1.51 firmware as target. Hit spoof, then hit write. Follow the Jungle Flasher guide!

im gonna grab a multi and check that.. but yea i have flashed it close to 100 times.. and even went as far as to have somebody else prepare and send me the firmware to flash it with after sending them my originals.. the e64 is what is confusing me.. its like its not detecting firmware at all.. rather than not getting the key matched.. i cant load a dvd like you should be able to.. i have downloaded several other originals for a benq with the keys located in several places and none of them worked either.. also i did notice that Firmware Toolbox recognizes the key of the new benq to be all FF located at c040, and JF recognizes the key to be 112233 etc at c030.. dont know what that means.. also the drives original firmware identified it as SATA DVD-ROM 6243 rather than the PBDS VAD6038-64930c

Send me the original hitachi bin file. I'll spoof it to a benq file and sent it back.

Your 360 has a E64 because the BENQ isn't spoofed to Hitachi 0059.

When you hit spoof, did you make sure they matched? Doesn't matter how many times you flash if the firmware is incorrect. Are you 100% sure you have the orginal keys?

He dumped the BENQ drive and flashed it with the Hitachi key. Instead of flashing the BENQ drive with the hitachi key and spoofing the BENQ as a hitachi.

Now how would you have done this? Told you had the wrong firmware...lol. As long as you have the orginal keys you're fine. No wonder you were confused.

no.. i have done it properly lol.. been through this on the other boards... i dumped the original hitachi several times.. then it got bricked.. i then ordered a benq... once i recieved it i dumped its firmware and then loaded the hitachi as source and the benq/(and benq ixtreme as well) as the target then hitting spoof to target.. i mean thats pretty simple and hard to mess up.. the benq firmware is currently spoofed as a Hitachi 0059 with the key from my hitachi.. so.. thanks for the comments but that has been well tested..
