I was wondering if there is anyway to flash this drive without sodering or using a connectivity kit? I get it to show up in windows and in iprep but it gives me the "warning bad dvd key". Is this drive screwed already. I have not done anything to it. I looked through some tutorials but none that I found talks about errors. If I do have to alter the drive then is there anyway to get the dvd key before altering. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to extract the Key, Inquiry, and Identify with a probe or spear if you are looking at going the solderless route. Use the JF tutorial linked in my signature.

no there is no way ... you could try making your own it would probably be cheaper than the connectivity kit... but more risk to screw something up...

Yeah, if you aren't probing the R707, then that is what you will get.

do you think people on this forum are just holding out on you ?? like the insiders have a "secret" way to do it without the need to build/buy a connectivity kit ?? they just haven't shared it with you yet ?

you either buy the kit or you build one on your own... or pay someone to do it for you . . . .. there are no other options... there is no one working on any other options... be grateful there is a way to do it....

sorry dude im no noob to this shit im just saying cause i thought the connectivity kit just acts as a sort of power supply for you doing it without the 360. ive modded a couple of drives but just came across one of the liteons days ago. not looking for a hand nor am i too lazy. just now started researching so give me a phuckin break.... :P

Well I actually paid to have it done and was able to watch the guy do it right in front of me. It took a little bit to get the probe just right for JF to take it but once it did it was lights out and everything works likes a charm. If you don't know how to do it just have someone do it in front of you so you can watch. I think I will do my next one seeing as how easy it was. Thanks to all I may never have to ask another questions on 360 drives again because this liteon was the last drive on the list that i had not done. Thanks to everytone who put in there 2 cents. Also a special thanks goes out to leerage for always giving good info and not being an ass. If you have a question and have not got the right answer just ask ol leerage and he will give you all the proper info needed to get it done right. Thanks always.

i used to be like leerage but after 6 months of the same old crap i got tired of spoon feeding people.

btw if your liteon (as already flashed with ixtreme as you said you watched someone else do it before) then there is no need for the probe since you already got that info from the original flash. reading the jungleflasher tut explains all that tho so i dont know why i expect anyone to already know that.
Maybe everytime someone writes a new tut we should just copy and paste pieces of it to a notepad on my desktop and when people have questions just paste the relevant sections lol......oh wait thats the exact samething as reading the tut /facepalm

Well to respond to your rant. I was talking about the next liteon drive I do I will do myself not the same one. I did read the tut and knew that. So unless you live inside my head (which you don't) make damn sure you know what YOU are talking about before you rant. It always seems like i have to re interpret everything i say because everyone sees it different. Thanks for the reply.
