Hi, I have a Samsung MS 25 and the DVD Drive is playing funny buggers. Here's the symptoms.

Firstly if I close the drive tray with no disk in, it wont eject. I can hear it trying but is sounds like its getting stuck.

When it has a disk in the tray, it doesn't get stuck. After I eject a disk, the disk is still spinning quite fast in the tray as it opens. The drive also does not close most of the time when a disk is in, it just opens straight back up.

I have opened up the drive to take a look. It opened and closed fine when the lid was off the drive but as soon as I put the lid on, it wouldn't eject (no disk in).

This drive was like this when the stock firmware was on it, I have upgraded to iExtreme 1.51 now but that hasnt fixed it.

I suspect the maybe the drive mechanism is slightly misaligned, any thoughts?

The drive is obviously getting some sort of error, or the motors aren't as powerful as they use to, causing it to have problems ejecting. I've received my buddy's 360, and it's also a Sammy drive. The best option would be to either buy a new drive, or send it to M$ and get it fixed. My buddy sent his modded 360 to M$, and got it fixed, so you shouldn't have any problems really!

I had the same issue with a Sammy and a BenQ. Take the shell off and on the front of the Sammy is a dial. Turn that dial til it starts to come out and then you can pull the tray out. But you will want to only go half way so can expose the belt. There is a rubber belt and I think it starts to get stiff over time. Heat up some water and throw it in there for a couple of minutes or so and then dry it off. Put the belt back on and re-assemble. See if that fixes your problem. Did wonders for my 2 drives.

Hmm I actually did that to my buddy's drive just now, and it's doing pretty good ejecting now! Though, once the metal shielding is back on, it has issues trying to push itself out. I don't know now if the metal is causing it to do something now...

His drive is also an MS-25

EDIT: Ok I figured that the spindle on the drive, the part on the top of the metal case, that circular disc in there, when the drive ejects back into the system, the spindle and the circular thing in the lid attach magnetically. So when I eject the tray, it's like the spindle doesn't have the power to detach from the magnet on the lid? Does that make sense?
