well it depends on the type of firmware you use i think. I know of 2 types but have never attemped to use them.

One way is definitely to use DD-WRT firmware on a Linksys Router ~ http://timbermheay.wordpress.com/2007/11...apter-for-xbox/ ~ i use DD-WRT on all my routers though i haven't tried setting one up as a gaming adapter.

(so far all the links i'm finding are DD-WRT flashed Linksys routers, not sure if you have to use DD-WRT though)

Plus there's using a laptop in bridged mode (doesn't appeal to me at all)

so you guys are suggesting that i somehow modify a regular router to receive rather than put out signal?

I have a linksys wireless router sat around here doing nothing as it happens

As i say i don't know if you have to flash the router with DD-WRT firmware for this o work but if you do you have to follow flashing instructions to the letter, as any mistakes can brick the router.
