I have downloaded two different games from one of the website. After extracting them the combined file appears a winrar file but will not open with winrar. With image burner it will be read as iso.file.Now I burnt it on a DvD-R disc with 4x speed. But even after trying on 4 different dvds I am still getting dvd error on my wii.I have borrowed some copy wii games & they play without any problem.Any idea what am I doing wrong?? I have looked for various videos on Youtube but no solution for my problem.
Many thanks

This is happening because you have WinRAR associated with the ISO extension. So after extracting the file it shows the WiinRAR icon but it is actually the ISO.

To unassociate the ISO extension with WinRAR do the below steps.

Open WinRAR.

Go to the Options TAB then Settings.

Click on the Integration TAB.

Untick the ISO box under "associate WinRAR with".

Click OK.

Now you should have a different icon for the ISO.

Burn the ISO with IMGBurn at 4X using quality media.

If that still doesn't work then be more descriptive with the issue.

Are you getting an error with # (if so what is the error #)?

Are you getting the game can not be read error?

Is it starting but going to a black or green screen?

What region system and firmware are you on?

What region is the game disc?

How are you booting the game disc?

What is the title of the game disc?

What blank media are you using?

Here's a problem I've been having.

Lately, when I back up games, it starts normally and it says disk read error please consult manual blah blah blah. Does not provide code etc. However, some games work flawlessly such as Metal of Honor Hero's 2, CoD world at war. But other games I back up such as Dokapod Kingdom, Animal Farm, and Harvest moon have not been working. I've been using the same media Sony DVD+R ever since I've had my machine since release date. I have wiikey (v1). Any thoughts, burning at 4x speed all NTSC-U.

I agree with fiber32.

Just because a media worked for you in the past doesn't mean it will now. SONY has allot of different manufactures for there media. You could also have a bad batch of media. Try using different media.

Here's what I've tried so far..

Successfully downgraded from Oct 3.3v3 to 3.2 - after having to upgrade to 4.0 to due semi bricks and errors

Tried different Media - DVD-RW, DVD+RW...

I have had some success, I have not tried verbat or any other

Still having problems loading some games but my system seems to be running fine, no laser problems

I suppose I could try to downgrade even further to 3.1U but I don't see a need for that.

I'm also going to try to reback my games up because maybe I had a bad .iso, we'll see..

Thanks for input, any further suggestions will help.

This may be the problem...

my wii key (v1) 1.9s settings are not saving. Every time i run the config disk to set region override off and black updates on the settings do not save. This could possibly be a problem from what I have read. Still not sure.

Ok i've burned plenty and here is my advise;
if you have WinVista trash it; upgrade to Windows7 freely downloadable direct from Microsoft, doesn't expire until next summer

Download and use ImgBurn again free and it works every time

Burn at 1x speed; seriously get it right the first time. 2x is NOT twice as fast as 1x, the gap is more exaggerated as the speeds get higher

When buying media only buy a name you recognize; Don't waste $20 trying to save $4

get USB loader running; then if you have trouble you can test the ISO and not the media, it also lets you see if the game is worth burning

Don't use Windows 7 it is still in beta.

Burn with IMGBurn at 4X or half the rated write speed of the media (burning to slow is just as bad as burning to fast).

Use quality DVD-R media preferably Verbatim or Tayio Yuden.

Your Wiikey setup disc is more then likely saving the settings. It just so happens when you boot the setup disc again the settings will be set to the default settings even though you have them enabled.
