Hi, all,
I have just installed evox dashboard and succesfully managed to backup my copy of Halo. It plays fine on both dvd-r and from the XBox HD. I seem to be unable to backup my copy of Sonic Heroes or Brute Force using the same method. Is this a problem connected with these games. Has anyone managed to back these titles up.
I used FlashFXP to ftp the game to my PC, then used Qwix to create the ISO file, Finaly burnt to dvd-r with Nero 6.
Halo works but Sonic Heroes doesn't.
Thanks for any advice given.

Brute force works, but you gotta edit out some demos to make it fit.

to get Brute Force to fit on a DVD Backup you have to delete the following file to make it fit : ONly delete these files if your version of the game is NTSC!
Brute Force

Thanks for the replies guys
Daskins, I removed all the files from Brute Force as you recommended to allow the game to fit on to a DVD.
I copied all the files over to the XBox HD fist to verify that the game would work. It failed to start. From the Evox dashboard the screen changes to the large Evox logo then returns to the dashboard again.
This is the same problem I had before with Sonic Heroes when burnt to a DVD-R. The dashboard recognises the disc to be a game but wont play.
Any other suggestions.

well you can always upgrade to the latest bios and the newest Evox dashboard, that could help too.

I have one for you.. I asked this already but got no answer. I can't find anything in the forums about it. I guess it's to new of a game. I bought MTX Mototrax the other day and tried to back it up on my hard drive. For some reason it wont copy roughly 67 files. I can back it up to a DVD no problem. I tried DVD2XBOX and alot of other methods and some different FTP programs with no luck. Why would a game backup to a DVD but give me trouble going to my hard drive? Anyone? thanks

Did you upgrade to the newest dvd2xbox 0.5.5 ??
You could try complex tools 1.60, I haven't come across a game that can't be backed up. If you are running a current bios (Evox M7) then you don't have to patch your games.

Scot, some games have to be patched regardless of bioes (ie 007 EON, Suffering).
MotoMatt Make sure that its just not that particular partition that is full, I have successfully backed that game up with XBCopy and it works fine except it didn't copy 3 files for some reason so i did them manually with boxplorer.

Thanks dolemite, but I don't need dvd2xbox, i already have it, i was just seeing if he had used the newest version or the older one.
And yes, I no that there are a few games out there that need patching, I have already did 007, suffering, and even a game from a while back Enter the Matrix. But there have only been a few that fit this special situation.
So I will rephrase that, if you are running a new bios then there is no need to patch your games except for a select few as your bios will take care of it.

I have the latest version of everything I use. You are all missing my point here. The game will run off the hard drive no problem. It just wont copy 40 or so files to the hard drive. I dont care what program you use I have confirmed it with 3 other people that have the game. When you run the game and it happens to look for those certain files you get a error. This has nothing to do with "patching" the game or what bios you are running.. However.. You can rename the files(all 40) to something smaller. Then copy them over and rename them back(all 40) which really really sux..

I'm a PAL gamer, and am wondering if the patching needed is the same for PAL and NTSC games? Sorry if this's been asked a thousand times before, but I've copied some of my games to my HDD using DVD2Xbox and they're not working. Do I need to have any specific options selected on DVD2Xbox (ACL RM on or off, etc).
I've also tried searching the .xbe files for the string responsible for the media check, but neither the problematic code nor it's replacement can be found. Examples of games causing problems are DOA:XBV, Burnout and Hitman 2.

The .xbe file that patches 007 EON to work off the HD works for both NTSC and PAL versions..
