Well, to start, I had my Hitachi Xbox 360 modded about 1 1/2 years ago. I have no idea the current version...

I have never played it on Xbox live, and now I am very interested in taking it on live. I would assume I would want to use iXtreme 1.5/1.6 (1.6 in a few days) and ensure my game is "stealth" patched.

What do I need to be able to update my drive, and ensure my back up is stealth patched?

Thanks in advanced!

since you (and i) have a hitachi, the wait for 1.6 will probably be a while. i waited a long time for the 1.5 fw but it never came (luckily 1.51 came). as far as what you need, really just a computer with onboard sata or a compatable via card, a sata cable, and jungleflasher.(and new fw obviously) if your downloading games, run the iso through abgx 360.

Aww nuts, didn't realize the Hitachi was so rough.

Can you point me to the right direction of what I need?

just google jungleflasher and abgx 360. as for the fw, keep an eye out here for info on hitachi release. and you'll have to find out if your computer has sata or not. good luck.

So unless I'm mistaken, I need to buy the Connectivity Kit 3 and USB key. Anything else I will need for my Hitachi drive? I'd like to make it as easy as possible, so an investment wouldn't be a big deal. Moreover, my buddy is considering getting a new arcade so I'd like to be able to flash the Lite-On Drives too.

It also seems as though iXtreme 1.6 is not out for the Hitachi yet, how long does it usually take for Hitachis? Another question, abgx helps me verify my games are stealth patched right? Is it safe to use my 20gb hard drive which has save files from UNPATCHED games/custom games?

Also, my computer does have SATA, but how do I check the chipset of my SATA?

many tutorials on this topic. jungle flasher is very simple to use and mostly self explanitory. you so not necessarily need the connectivity kit with any drive. you can simply power the drive with the xbox. just make sure you ground the console to the case to ensure voltage consistency.you will need the probe for the lite on. you will need 1.51 or higher to play the newer games with the wave 3 updates so if you consider the ten min it takes to open and flash your console to be a pain, then you may want to wait for 1.6 hitachi. jungle flasher allows you to send the drive to mode b without any tricks. If that wont work you can always throw a dvd in and boot a slax os disc. when the drive is in mode b it will take 2 button presses to close the drive. once there you are ready to flash just make sure your files are available and do it.

Jungleflasher is a very easy program to use with Hitachi drives. The problem you may run in to is that the first time around you had your console modded by someone else.

For someone doing it the very first time themselves, Hitachi drives are the worst choice to start with. The flashing programs available make up only half of the equation for a sucessful flash. The other half is having your pc set up right.

It's very easy to brick a Hitachi. Every other drive, if locked up, can be erased and reflashed. But not the Hitachi. If you flash it wrong or your pc freezes up then you got problems. And 9 times out of 10 the freezing will happen while programming the new firmware. So, dumping the firmware will go along smoothly, lulling you in to a false sence of security, then BAM... your pc locks up during the writing process.

I'm not trying to scare you. Like I said, flashing a Hitachi is very easy. You just have to make sure your covered all your bases when getting set up.

Thanks for your advice! I'm doing all the research I can and I am looking into the guides in your sig.

I want to be able to mod all 360s, my friends are willing to split the costs of the equipment if I can flash their units. So I am willing to buy any equipment to ensure I am flashing it the easiest/safest way.

I have done some shopping research, is this my shopping list?

Sata Port VT6421A:

Maximus 360 USB Reader:

and which connectivity kit do I need? V3 Lite/Pro?

If there is a better place to buy all the equipment, please advise me. =) Also, I will be following the JungleFlasher v0.1.59 beta guide.

Thanks in advanced!
