Hey Guys,

Let's just say tonight was an absolute nightmare and a night full of surprises..

Well, with the ixtreme 1.6 being released I got a little over excited and wanted to upgrade from 1.5.1 to the 1.6 , why I don't know I guess just for the extra features and the fact that 1.6 being the latest release.

I previously flashed my BenQ drive myself to the 1.5.1 however I don't know what went wrong tonight. The only thing I can imagine is when I linked everything up to my pc and my connectivity kit I pluged the power supply pins from the power supply into the connectivity kit upside down.. ani may d it was not detecting the drive in jungleflasher.. When I realised I took the drive out and it smelled burnt!

I put everything back in the xbox in the hope everything would be fine however after it comes to my dashboard on my tv the green light on the front of the xbox keeps flashing green continousley... and the dvd tray will not eject.

I am guessing I have killed my BenQ? What do you guys think? If this is the case then how easy is it to replace it?

Is it just a case of buying a new benq drive from ebay and flashing it then replacing it or is there more to it?

Would really appreciate any suggestions.. many thanks...

If you plugged the power upside down and smelt something burnt, you really bricked the drive. Could of also fried your connectivity kit.

Buy a BenQ drive and then flash your key to the drive along with ix1.6.

I take a permanent marker and put a dot on top of the power cable so I know which end goes up correctly.

Drive looks good.

Just load your original firmware in SOURCE
Say NO to autoload.
Then load ix1.6 for BenQ in target.
Click Spoof Source to Target.
Save the custom firmware.
Go to MTKFlash tab, get the BenQ into vendor mode, and write.

That drive looks good also.

I'm use to providing the original and a custom firmware for customers so that is why I say that. Saving the CFW is purely up to you, think of it as another source that has your key.

Also do you think my CK3 Pro kit is dead? it doesnt smell I cant see anything burnt the lights on it work (red/blue) it did not eject the drive maybe because I fried the drive already . do you think i need a new connectivity kit? or shall i just wait for th enew drive to come and try with the kit i already have thanks..

Try powering it up again with the 4pin molex from your computer/power source. I'd say if it lights up, you should be allright.

I do that also. That way in the future if they forget what version is on their drive all they have to do is open the cfw.

There firmware called 0800 for the Samsung and the BenQ. When this firmware is flashed to the drive, Windows will be able to recognize the drive in device manager. At that point you can use ripping programs to make back-up copies of your games. Before, you had to flash back in forth between iXtreme firmware and 0800 firmware if you only had 1 drive. Now with iXtreme 1.6, you have the stealth firmware, along with the 0800 support; an all-in-one firmware.

hmmm i see but were you not able to do this with a normal dvd player in the pc? even now with the ixtreme 1.6 i guess you still need to take the drive out and connect it to the pc mother board for windows to detect it.. is that right?

thanks

There are Kreon drives that are PC drives, flashed with custom firmware allowing the drive to rip 360 games. I just use the spare BenQ drive when I rip games.
