Ok, so I've flashed my Samsung drive with iXtreme 1.6, which is supposed to have built-in 0800 mode, which should allow Windows to see the drive like a regular dvd drive. No matter what I do, I can't get Windows to detect anything. I've tried power-cycling numerous times, rebooting my computer, uninstalling drivers, etc., etc. Windows just doesn't want to show anything. However, my BIOS lists the drive, and it even shows 3 lines when trying to detect a cd/dvd to boot from (whereas before it only showed 2, since I have 2 internal optical drives). I can't figure out what's going on in Windows that it won't detect the drive. I did install the firmware to the drive using the same computer with the same installation of Windows, and JungleFlasher detects the drive just fine every time. I do have PortIO installed. I can't imagine what I'm doing wrong.
I know the drive needs to be half open when you turn it on to enable 0800, and I do that every time, but it doesn't work. All it does is put the drive in vendor mode according to JungleFlasher.
Does anyone here have any idea what might be wrong? Thanks for any help!
So, I flashed my other 360 (also with a Samsung drive), directly from its original state to iXtreme 1.6. Same results. I know other people have been able to get this to work. How, exactly? Do I need a specific chipset to be able to do this? Right now I have nothing to go by. All I've heard is turn on the Xbox with the drive half open, maybe reset the PC. Not very specific, and it doesn't do anything for me. Are there any specific hardware or drivers or procedures or anything like that? Windows won't even show an unknown device. The drives I have plugged into the other SATA ports work fine, and are detected by Windows. Surely someone here must know something about this...
