Possible to flash without original firmware?

My xbox is flashed to 1.3 or 1.4, I am not sure. I had it done by some guy 2 years ago. I don't have the original firmware so is it possible to flash my xbox to 1.51 or 1.6? I have a samsung/toshiba drive.

yes... just dump the firmware from your drive then go through the procedure to flash it 1.6

I should have wrote this before. I tried this using iprep but it kept asking for my original firmware.

dump the firmware of your DVD drive... then that will be your 'original' firmware...

it only wants it cause it needs the keys and other info... it doesn't matter that its not really the "original"
